Just to the left of GoldStar/Pinocchio is a KTV that caters to Japanese people. Pinocchio is in a little plaza with 4 stores. Pinocchio is the right most store, there are 2 restaurants in the middle and the left most store front with Japanese characters and signs is the Japanese KTV. The prices are much cheaper. The take home price here can be negotiated down to 600RMB. The drinks are cheaper as well. In order to compete with GoldStar, they too have adopted the top less dance. THe funniest thing is that they even use the same music GoldStar used 6 months ago. GoldStar has since changed outfits (purple tops instead of pink tops) and performance songs. The girls here tend to be of the cuter variety and I've had a great time there everytime.

I've had good luck with KTV places that cater to Japanese. They are cheaper than the ones that cater to other types of foreigners and cleaner than the ones that cater to the locals. There is another JP KTV right next to the New Harbour Hotel in Huang Pu district. The lineup is not as good as the other JP KTV place but the "happy hour" experience is very interesting! ALl the girls in the room leave and a different girl comes in dressed as an Arabian enchantress. She starts dancing, stripping down, and basically gives every guy in the room a lapdance. Courtesy of Shengge's info, I managed to make my way to what I think is Shanghai Palace.

Well, for 芬蒂(FD) or Fantasy Garden (FG) in English, the problem is you need to get hold of BB to get the RMB600 price. Whereas for YPH, so long as you are recommended, fix at RMB600 while paying at the cashier, food there also FOC.

First trip to Shanghai and after doing my "research" decided to head for Fantasy HC for a little RnR. Informed the taxi driver to head down to the ZhenBei n MeiChuan intersection with no difficulties. The DIO Coffee Shop is VERY HARD to miss indeed.

Walking in past the security post, was surprised to find FG occupying the whole building. Along the way, felt like I was being transformed back to the 70s to 80s era, a scene from the many movies ...

Forgive this "Swa Gu" junior as it was his first visit to a HC. Certainly very impressed by the facilities within! The service by your locker room boys was good too. After my shower, had a towel dry on my back by one of the boys and proceeded to the 2nd floor to wait for Bing2.

It was slighty after 2pm on a sunday so I guess, it was indeed a little early. Waited like 30mins before she finally swung the door open. Very friendly and asked if I was from SG. She asked me if I wanted to choose from a line up or trust her to organise it. I told her I prefer a tall girl who's not so much of a "bah chaiz". But somehow I was unlucky - couldn't find the right streets (Lond Dong Road, Qin Zhou Bei Road......). The only barber shops I have seen were real barber shops (only guys no girls). Have also found two massage parlors (street was called Changyi Road I think) - but when asking at the entrance they only offered oil massage.

Since the girls moved to the new site @ Puxi recently coz the Pudong Ming Dian was down for reno, I paid a cheaper rates when I visited my mm in Puxi.

Firstly the 2 roads you mentioned are quite far from the Shangri La so I hope you did not try to walk:D
If you decided to take a cab then perhaps u shd try the FG that is the current rave in the forum.
BBS are more common around Dong Fang Lu , Jin Xiu Lu , Wei Fang Lu but make sure that they are the right ones ....not much hair on the floor , dim pink or red light and lots and lots of scantly dressed MMs waiting to serve you. IMHO though , I would give it a miss as security is a risk and hygiene is not there ( don't see them washing up as there is no facility)
