I shall be rooting for the Gooners, hehehe!

Hope David Luis does not take on his comical 'side show Bob' persona in this match!
Bro,
absolutely no idea.
These days, they blow hot or cold.
Some days, their forwards click and defense is stable; other days defense goes to pieces.
I am just hoping the defense holds up, then their forwards can do their thing..

Cheers

Gather City like Arsenal now back with a full squad. That means Laporte and Sane now available for City, two world class additions.

On paper, City should walk pass Arsenal but first game after a three months unprecedented covid-19 break, adds in the unpredictable factor. Also Guardiola still grieving over the loss of his mother from covid-19. But I gather he has brought in his old coach from Mexico during the end of his playing days to replace Arteta. Apparently they have a 'father/son' kinda of relationship, so this may help Pep in this difficult period.

On the flip side, Arteta knows City and Pep very well. Plus like you said a lot to play for, with respect to Arsenal.

Difficult call, I can see a draw but think City might just have too much for the Gooners.

A lot has been said about us needing 2 wins or 6 points to secure the league. Actually, if City loses to Arsenal and if we win our next match, the league is ours

If you look at the league table, the team with the least losses is Liverpool (1). This is followed by Wolves and Arsenal (6 losses). Man City has 7 losses so far. Arsenal is in its current position due to too many draws. Arsenal don't win or lose as often as other teams. I think City will drop points when they face Arsenal. If Arsenal wins, they are right back into CL contention as Man City may be banned from next season's CL. Good motivation.

it's good to know we are keeping the core players.

some fringe players will depart in the transfer window. this leaves our younger players with more chances of 1st team action. Elliot, Brewster, Williams need to grab the chance.

Dont understand why Gini Wijnaldum are one of the players they plan to offload.

he is the one who did all the shit work for us, and a hardworking one.

Dont understand why Gini Wijnaldum are one of the players they plan to offload.

I think the reasons are contractual and not due to footballing reasons. He has held off signing his last major contract. Maybe the club's offer to him is not satisfactory in terms of weekly wages or in terms of length of contract.

I don't think Liverpool will give a long contract on high wages to someone on the wrong side of 30 for sentimental reasons. We are afterall the club running on Moneyball concepts. Plus Liverpool has too many players who can play in central midfield.(Henderson/Keita/Takumi/Milner/Fabino/Grujic/Wilson/plus new targets). Normally we only play 3 in midfield.

Given that he has 1 year remaining, his transfer fee will not be much. Maybe he thinks it is better to find a new club willing to give him a signing on fee, huge wages and a long contract. We cannot blame him as a footballer's career is short.

I think all Liverpool fan should watch the movie Moneyball. It is on Netflix.

Flat game but not unexpected under the circumstances.

We look rusty and lacked rhythm.

Also there is a reason why Klopp wanted Timo Werner. When our front 3 are not firing or unavailable we have no adequate replacements. Still don't understand why Klopp persists in playing Origi on the wings when he is a CF? Same thing Rafa did with Djibril Cisse.

Injuries to Matip and Milner not surprising but still a worry.

On the positive side, Keita looks to be a star player if he can remain fit. Shout out to Alisson for keeping us in the game as well. Minamino also looks to be coming up to speed.

Oh and we are now 5 points off from the title compared to 6 points a day ago.

Hope to see Salah and Robertson back in our next match.

We go again next against Palace.

They already breached financial fair play rules. If they are kicked out of next 2 seasons of CL, they have to start selling players to balance their accounts. Plus it is harder to recruit new and retain old players if they are out of CL.

Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man U are all rebuilding. If Man City starts dismantling due to FFP rules, we are in a strong position for the next 2 seasons.

Liverpool win Premier League: How Lawro celebrated as Reds' 30-year wait for top-flight title ends

had too many beers and not enough sleep last night but once every 30 years I suppose I can cope with that.

I was on LFCTV for a special live show after the Chelsea versus Man City game finished and Liverpool were confirmed as champions. We didn't come off air until 12:30 in the morning and I didn't get home for a good few hours after that.

We were broadcasting from Chapel Street in the centre of Liverpool rather than using our studio next to Anfield and, when I finally left and headed for bed, the streets of the city were littered with fallen bodies sleeping off what was one heck of a party.

It was typical of Liverpool fans really - they always know how to celebrate, and obviously our first league title since 1990 is a pretty good excuse.

Which matches were turning point matches which made you believe the Reds were finally going to cross the line and claim #19?

To me...

Aston Villa v Liverpool...where we came back from 1-0 down to win 1-2 with goals in the last 8 minutes of the match...this really showed that our boys are mentality monsters as previously we would have settled for a draw at best

Other notable matches thereafter..

Liverpool v City...3-1 victory for obvious reasons

Palace v Liverpool...1-2 victory, yet another mentality monster push to get all 3 points instead of just settling for the draw and 1 point

Leicester v Liverpool...0-4 victory, this match confirmed that we can play at another level under immense pressure and just about knocked the stuffing out of both City and Leicester, #19 was almost a foregone conclusion after that

ThisIsMelwood

IMO, those games where Liverpool won by 1 goal margin were critical and important for winning title.

The mentality monster was relentless.

Agreed that Aston Villa game with last 10 mins from a losing position to winning 2 -1 and maintaining 6 pts gap with Man City was turning.

Then go to Leicester to trash 4 - 0 was mark of champion.

At least rat faced Neville paif tribute to Klopp.

7 managers came and gone before Klopp got the job done.

What a German and how he master minded the plot.

SKD was right to say "Get ready for the ride" when Klopp signed in October 2015.

Liverpool played some of the best football in Europe and world was once again watching with awe.

Must say that City midfield last night was pure class and KDB has once again shown himself to be the best midfielder in the PL. City definitely has a shot at the CL this season although I am still anyone but City:p

Tbh though, I really think we missed a trick with Werner for a whole batch of reasons. But it is what it is and we can’t cry over spilt milk. It'd be good if Klopp uses this as a chance to give some bench players a start now.

Next match, I'd like to see Williams start, but still with the other three of the back four; maybe Elliot could start, move Salah central and Mane in his usual spot; or start Minamino with Salah and Mane; I'd also give Keita a starting spot for the remainder of this season.

Good player, wants to sign only with Liverpool. Classic signs of the Timo Werner saga where a player 'links' himself with us only to try to get other teams to pay him more money. If Timo Werner isn't linked with us, will Chelsea end up paying him $200K per week? Liverpool does not seem the type of club where we will not renew Gini's contract only to sign someone the same age (Thiago). I doubt this transfer will come true.

Jack Grealish will be more likely. English, young, proven in the BPL, playing in the Coutinho position now, can play as a winger too, plus Liverpool likes to buy the best players from a relegated (possibly) side :p

We were really poor till Bobby and Henderson came on.

I think Klopp has proved you can't start with Ox and Origi and that we still need cover for the front three, because the drop off if any of our front 3 are injured or off form is noticeable.

So happy for Curtis though. Really rate this kid. And love his attitude. You get the feeling he thinks he should be getting more game time but not in an arrogant way.

Finally big shout out to Alisson. This chap oozes pure class. What a fabulous save from Grealish at the end when he had nothing much to do previously. Definitely the best GK in the PL. If only he was playing that night in March in the return leg CL tie against A. Madrid at Anfield, we would probably still be in the race to defend the CL in August.

Anyways we go again next against Brighton.

Sometimes we use players like Ox, Origi so that our front 3 can get the rest they need. Playing a match every 3 or 4 days will be draining on players. This physical drain is advantageous for teams with big squads like ours. Our players will be fresher as the season ends when compared to players from Brighton. Even though Ox and Origi are not of the same standard, they are still important to the overall plan.

Hopefully we can still cross 100 points. We still have to face Chelsea and Arsenal. Dropping 2 points against Everton is increasingly regrettable when we are trying to set a new points record. Hopefully Allison can win the Golden Glove award, he is the joint leader now.

That's 30 wins now out of 34 games. Remarkable.

Keita had a really good performance.

VVD was a colossus.

Mo, well I love his desire to get more goals. Never satisfied.

Good to see young Neco get a start as well.

Hope Jordan's ok.

The machine keeps rolling.

Bring on Burnley.

Two bad decisions from a dodgy ref cost us.

We were ****** over at United with that foul on Origi and we were ****** here with an offside when both of our players were onside.

People that say VAR has helped us can **** off.

That said, we had more than enough chances to win this comfortably.

Pope was brilliant but our finishing was poor.

People keep telling me what a great player Firmino is and how he creates space and chances for others but you still expect a few goals from a striker. He has been poor since the restart.

Thought we lost the midfield when Jones went off. He had been everywhere and competing for every thing.

Very disappointing but not the end of the world.

Pool is so lau yah and lembek after becoming league champions...seems like no more steam or energy left after a gruelling season

Liverpool - 93 pts (Champion)
Man Utd - 58 pts - (5th)
Difference - 38 pts

Not sure how you termed "lau yah and lembek"

IMO - Liverpool have nothing to play for.
Try out new players from academy.
Try not to get players injury.

Salah was quite wasteful. He seems so casual at times. The penalty call will not even be an issue if we take our chances. Easily can lead 3 or 4 goals

I think we have to be favourites for next season. Our guys will take a break after the domestic season ends in July. The European cup competitions will start in August. Man U will be competing in the Europa League while Man City is still in the Champions League. Chelsea is still in the CL but I think they will be knocked out soon since they are trailing the first leg 3-0. Arsenal and Spurs are blowing hot and cold. Among the top 6, we are the most settled team.

As long as we remain full of desire, no reason why we cannot win again. We grind teams down with relentless attacking. Plus Salah and Mane will not be away for African Cup in Jan.

can understand from the players, it's a huge load and pressure off the players after being confirmed PL Champions, coming from the 1 point miss being crowned Champions the previous season.

must say Nick Pope was in outstanding form in this game. his reflex and positioning in front of goal was excellent. even Klopp was impressed with Nick.

can we get him to replace Adrian who is leaving for Spain?

escobar43535

I do think we need a more creative player in our midfield. Keita is capable, but is inconsistent. Henderson and Wijnaldum are industrious, but not creative. Oxlade-Chamberlain has been nowhere near pre-injury levels, unfortunately. Jones and Elliott look like they could become creative players, but you can't hedge your bets that they'll reach the necessary level. All of these players are very good, but that midfield area needs an injection of something different if we are to enjoy continued success. Could Trent become that guy, if Williams reaches the required level at right back?

I also think we need a more clinical finisher, or at least someone who we rotate with Firmino/Mane/Salah and be confident in their ability to do the business. Origi, for everything he has done for us, does not give me that confidence. As for Minamino the jury is still out. Problem is, who out there is available?

Alternatively,I would drop Firmino into midfield and look for a more clinical striker.Firmino does not get enough goals but he could be the playmaker in midfield and would open things up for the front three if he was played there.

I think these are the things we need to address to be able to retain the title next season, especially if our main rivals do well in this transfer market window.

We cannot afford him. He is English and will be overpriced. Plus he is aiming to be England number 1. Right now he is leading in the Golden Gloves competition. He kept 1 more clean sheet than Alisson as he has played more games. That is why he celebrated so much when they equalised.

Burley's style suits him as they will pack their defence and aim to counter attack. Just look at Burley's possession against us. I think it was only 27%. Easier for him to keep a clean sheet. If he comes to an attacking team, he is likely to concede more goals.

Really pissed off with that CAS decision yesterday:mad:

That said I was not surprised, actually was expecting City to just get a rap on the knuckles but still cheesed off nonetheless.

What makes this even worse is looking at the remaining upcoming match fixtures for this season's CL in Lisbon:(

A. Madrid now look to be a shoo in for a semi-final berth at a minimum. If we were still in it, I would say we would stand a pretty good chance of retaining the CL albeit with the recent injury to Jordan might have made this a tad more difficult perhaps.

Anyways now just hoping it is anyone but City!

Also might as well throw FFP in the dustbin after this CAS decision. Uefa cmi.

Next club now that might see a sudden rise would be Newcastle if the Saudi deal eventually goes through.

Hope to see us take out our frustration on Arsenal later this week.

My take on last night, apart from VVD doing a Kolasinac/David Luiz and Alisson an Ospina:D

We've played alright. But then we've played alright in a lot of games this season, and got enough to win.

I think the difference since Palace is we haven't needed to win.

But there's this trait developed where if we don't score a quick second, we know the pattern of the game.

Personally, I want to see a lot more quality in and around the box. More reliance on actual football than working it wide to get a cross in.

Liverpool have dropped 8 points in the 5 games since their PL title was confirmed, having dropped only 7 points in the opening 31 games.

Ended with a whimper albeit I can't be angry with the lads after playing at such a high level of intensity for the last two and a half years, culminating with #19.

Give the kids a run now Jurgen, no point risking key players give them a rest. Also gives you a clearer picture as to what needs to be done in the summer transfer window.

Hopefully Sir Henry will not sell any Liverpool players to raise funds for his ailing businesses.

His business interests in the USA have taken an enormous hit due to the Covid19 situation and are bleeding..... although he has furlonged close to 50% of his employees that is still not enough to cover his losses. I hope he dun sell LFC or any players to raise funds to help his cashflow problems.

For me I thought there was no excuse.. It was more of the lackadaisical manner in which they lost the match! They were so near to get the record points, should just put in the little bit of extra effort to achieve it. It's so near yet so far now.
U look @ Citeh, every match they play, they give their best for Pep even though they already secured 2nd place.
Find that this group of players Pool has now are not good enough for next season. Need strengthening in all departments.

If Thiago does indeed come to Anfield than I guess Wijnaldum shall not be signing a new contract.

Not sure if Liverpool can agree with Bayern on a fee though. This damn Covid-19 situation has created financial problems for lots of clubs, Liverpool included. I am convinced but for Covid-19, Timo Werner would be a Reds player today.

Must say if this deal does indeed come through, Thiago would inject something new, creative, dynamic and fresh to our midfield.

Definitely improve our chances of retaining the PL and going further in the CL next season.

Maguire 80m? We've had our pants pulled down. Against lesser teams he plays like Bobby Moore, against better teams he plays likes Roger Moore.

The Premier League have granted Liverpool special dispensation to allow families of the squad to attend Wednesday night's trophy presentation at Anfield.

Liverpool are hopeful a small number of people outside the permitted personnel are able to attend when the Reds are given their first league crown since 1990.

The champions host Chelsea in the final home game of what has been a wildly successful 2019/20 campaign, before they wrap up the season away at Newcastle on Sunday.

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has insisted Frank Lampard should be named Premier League Manager of the Year ahead of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

The Blues booked their place in the FA Cup final on Sunday with an impressive 3-1 win over Manchester United.

It was an equally important day for Chelsea in the Premier League as Leicester City lost 3-0 to Tottenham Hotspur.

That means three points from their final two matches, away at Liverpool and at home to Wolves, will secure Champions League football.

Ballon d'Or 2020 award cancelled by organisers France Football

The Ballon d'Or, awarded annually to the world's best footballer, will not be held in 2020 due to the "lack of a sufficiently level playing field" caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Barcelona's Lionel Messi won the trophy in the men's category last year, while US striker Megan Rapinoe won the women's category.

Organisers France Football said the awarding of the prize, which has been given out every year since 1956, would be "not worthy" of the trophy's history.

The organisers added: "We did not want to put an indelible asterisk on the prize list as 'a trophy won in exceptional circumstances due to the health crisis of Covid-19'.

"Protecting the credibility and legitimacy of such a prize also means guaranteeing its irreproachability over time."

England's Stanley Matthews was the first winner of the award when he was voted European Footballer of the Year.

Until 1995, the Ballon d'Or was only awarded to European players, when it was extended to any player from a European club.

From 2007, it was extended to footballers from the rest of the world.

The list of the 30 nominated players is drawn up by the editorial staff of the French magazine. The winner is chosen by journalists from all over the world, with one representative from each nation.

I have been asked many times since we were confirmed as Premier League champions to sum up how I feel and I’m not too proud to admit I don’t think I’ve produced a good answer yet.

Part of that is because the initial feelings were too overwhelming. Anyone watching the media interviews in the minutes after it was confirmed could see that. Another element is that we still had a job to do and a relatively long wait until this moment.

I think now I can find the right word: gratitude. There are so many different people responsible when a team is successful and as players we are privileged to attract the most attention, the most praise and the biggest rewards. But behind the team there are so many different individuals and groups who make a side successful.

At Liverpool every single player in our dressing room recognises how fortunate we are to have the best in the world looking out for us and after us – and on a night like Wednesday it’s important to express that appreciation.

The supporters, of course, are a huge factor. Without them this club isn’t what it is. Speak to anyone in the world about Liverpool Football Club and the conversation always comes back to the passion and emotion around the club – and that’s entirely down to our fans. This is an emotional club and we shouldn’t shy away from that fact. It brings pressures, yes, but it means everything we do together means more – in good times and bad.

It’s gutting for all of us that our fans are not with us in person, but we can still make this one of the most enjoyable shared experiences we’ve ever had if we want it to be.

If anyone reads this column or these words prior to the evening of the match, I cannot say clearly enough it is critically important you stay away from Anfield and enjoy celebrating with us in your own way, at home. The city of Liverpool has been hit hard by COVID-19 and it’s important we support our healthcare heroes – the emergency services and key workers – by listening to the advice and staying away from gatherings which aren’t safe.

Joint statement by Merseyside Police, LFC, City Council and Spirit of Shankly
I promise you: we will feel you with us when we lift that trophy, even though you’re not at Anfield in person. We are lifting it for you – you’ve driven us to achieving this dream. But this club’s values are about taking care of each other and that means supporting us from home and in safe environments.

Aside from the fans, the other support network we have is the staff who work for this club, specifically the guys at Melwood but also those we don’t get to see as often. A club as big as Liverpool can only operate successfully if every employee performs to their highest level. That’s what we have here, off the pitch as much as on.

At Anfield, Chapel Street, the shops, LFC Foundation, community work and other club locations, we have hundreds upon hundreds of staff who go above and beyond to make LFC successful and so support what we do on the pitch. If the club is poorly run, the team has no chance.

Unfortunately, circumstance means we don’t get to meet everyone we can proudly call colleagues – but it doesn’t mean we don’t know about the contribution and recognise the significance of it.

The staff at Melwood, of course, we do know personally – and on behalf of all the players I want to take this chance to tell them they mean everything to us. I think I have the best workplace in the country and the rest of the players say the same thing.

Each day we are looked after by world-class professionals who create a culture and environment where players can thrive. Whether it’s the coaches, the medical team, fitness staff, the nutrition experts and chefs, the ground staff, the administration people or security... they dedicate their careers to make our team the best it can be.

It is no exaggeration to say that without these people the team would not be what it is. Without them Melwood would feel different and not give us the same energy. I hope everyone there knows how important they are to us and realise this title is as much for them as anyone.

If Melwood is our ‘home’ from a work perspective, then the impact of our actual families is something that each and every player will want to acknowledge after we pick up the trophy.

Of course, the rewards we get as professional footballers means that everyone in our family circle benefits, but what often isn’t seen or reported is the sacrifices made on this journey by the people closest to us.

I can speak from personal experience that without my immediate family, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Without their love and support, their understanding, their patience. They see you at your lowest and most insecure and they carry you on their shoulders. Each player in our squad would tell you the same, I’m sure, about their nearest and dearest.

I’ve been very lucky in my life with things that have happened to me, but without doubt the biggest blessing is my family. None of this would matter if I couldn’t share it with them and dedicate it to them.

When we win something, the players lift the trophy – but it is the families who lift the players. These moments are just as much about them in our eyes.

And finally, this team. What can I say about this team and our manager? I said my overriding feeling on summing up this season and becoming champions of England was gratitude. And my appreciation for my teammates and the gaffer could not be higher.

It’s no secret what this squad thinks of Jürgen Klopp. If you think as supporters you appreciate what he has done for this club, you can multiply that by a hundred for the team. He is our leader – he has set the tone for all of this from the day we walked in.

As I have said previously, and as the manager has said himself, he took over from great foundations laid by Sir Kenny and Brendan, and from players like Stevie. But he, more than anyone in my eyes, is the reason we are here now about to collect this club’s first league title in 30 years.

For the players... the lads I share a dressing room with and battle alongside on the pitch. I can honestly say I view each and every one of them as family. I know they’d do anything for me, and I would do anything for them. That’s what we have and we all know we are so fortunate to have it.

Being a very good football team that wins is nice. Being a team of brothers who wins is something else. But people do move on and have new challenges to face and enjoy. We will be saying goodbye to two massively important players this summer and both leave with our thanks for what they have done.

Nathaniel Clyne remains one of the best full-backs in England for me and I know wherever he goes next will have won the lottery to get a player of his talent. We all wish him well.

And then Adam Lallana. My mate. One of my best mates – in life not just in football. Adam is one of the best players I have ever shared a pitch with. Adam is one of the best professionals I have ever shared a pitch with. He is one of the best people I have shared a dressing room with. His contribution to where we are now cannot be understated. League titles aren’t won in just one season – they are a journey.

Adam Lallana set standards that the rest of us worked to reach and as a result this team and club drove forward. No-one will miss him more than me. But I know he still has many years left at the highest level, so we will get to see him again, albeit ‘ratting’ against us and causing us all sorts of problems with his ability and energy.

So to finish, when the trophy is lifted everyone I’ve mentioned will be there with us on that podium, if not in person, then at least in spirit and mind. Their hands will be on the trophy as well. Our supporters, the staff, our families and our team.

The best things are achieved together. This is a collective achievement and one we should all cherish and enjoy.

Thank you all for everything.

Jordan Henderson

There are so many different people responsible when a team is successful and as players we are privileged to attract the most attention, the most praise and the biggest rewards. But behind the team there are so many different individuals and groups who make a side successful.

For a moment, I thought those are your words. :p

Naby Keita was a monster of a rock playing Chelsea. He definitely played well and scored the Liverpool opener.

TAA free kick had improved tremendous.

If our fringe players played like today in every match next season then we should retain the PL title.

Disappointed we allowed Chelsea to get 3 goals especially when we were leading 4-1 and this has to addressed.
Since the league started the defense has been slightly shaky.
Another bitter moment was seeing United squeeze into 4th place.

Been waiting 30 years for that...as you grow older with every passing year you wonder will you ever see it again. I...and many others are the lucky ones...others who have passed in the interim are remembered today.

5 superb goals to mark the occasion...befitting of the fantastic football this team has played over the last few years.

Beautiful to see Kenny centre stage handing out the medals..how fitting. A symbolic handing over of the baton from Dalglish to Klopp...perfect.

Trophy lifted on 96 points... again how fitting, again how symbolic.

No words to express the joy...no words needed. LFC are league champions once again...these are the only words necessary

Man City boss Pep Guardiola takes Liverpool dig over PFA Player of the Year award

Pep Guardiola has his say on the PFA Player of the Year award and why he thinks it will go to a Liverpool player.

Pep Guardiola believes the PFA Player of the Year award will be awarded to a member of Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool squad.

And the City boss hinted his Manchester City side are consistently overlooked when it comes to the game's individual prizes.

Guardiola 's City won back-to-back Premier League titles in 2018 and '19 but saw his players miss out on the PFA awards in both seasons to Liverpool stars.

Guardiola said: "No, no, [it] will be won by a Liverpool player.

"When we won the Premier Leagues, it was won by a Liverpool player.

"When they win the Premier League, I'm pretty sure they are going to win the player of the season award.

"So this award is always for Liverpool."

Guardiola's comments came before it was confirmed Henderson had won the Football Writers’ Association award for Footballer of the Year for 2019/20.

An announcement on the PFA award is expected to be made soon.

Pep is such a moaner and whiner.

Salah won that season because he scored an unbelievable amount of goals. So much so think he even got the European golden boot.

Last season VVD was overwhelmingly immense. No doubt that he was the best defender in the world.

Now as for this season. Well, to be fair KDB probably stands a good chance because he is probably the best midfielder in the world this season. Henderson on the other was immense in leading Liverpool to its first EPL title. Tough call.

Anyways,to shut Pep up, just ask him where the money comes from to pay his salary:rolleyes::D

Henderson won because he has a huge influence on team performance plus he lead the team to victory in the Supercup, World Championship and English Premier League. During the years when the best player alternates between Ronaldo and Messi, the winner is normally the player who is in the team that won the biggest trophies that year.

Normally people will hate the champions. Well, next season, I think more people will continue to hate Man City (FFP cheats) than the reigning Champions. Good for us.

Hendo listened and took those critics as good. He didn't get upset but instead practised and worked on his game.

Hendo took the captain armband from Gerrard and never looked back. Hendo learned from previous Captains all the leaderships as skipper.

Assistant captains Milner and Van Djik showed strong support.

Congrats Hendo on winning the Player of Year award 2019/20.

these players are legends in the making, too early to be conferred legend status.

Klopp n Co. should maintain the Anfield fortress and home record.

Maybe better question for now, which of the above mentioned players are world class?

Obvious choices would be Alisson, VVD, Mane and Salah.

I think Trent, Henderson, Fabinho and Firmino are just one level below. Another possibility is Keita but all depends on whether he remains fit.

Oh and agreed, the only true legend at the moment is Klopp. I think he is an even better manager than King Kenny was at his best. People need to realise that Klopp not only defeated the richest club in the world, he did this with a net spend of only £80m. Incredible achievement.

Also must once again give great credit to John W Henry and FSG for pulling us out of the dark abyss.

Which records have Liverpool set or matched?
Biggest lead at the top
Liverpool have had a 25-point lead this season, the biggest ever in English top-flight history.

Most home wins in a row
Liverpool's 3-2 victory over West Ham United on 24 February was their 21st consecutive Premier League home win, beating Man City's record of 20, achieved between 2011 and 2012.

They went on to extend this record to 24 with wins over AFC Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa at Anfield.

Earliest title win
By claiming the title with seven matches to spare Liverpool beat the mark set of becoming champions with five matches remaining, set by Manchester United in 2000/01, and Man City in 2017/18.

Most points won over 38 matches
With their 1-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur on 11 January, Liverpool set a record of 104 points from 38 Premier League matches, beating the 102 achieved by Manchester City and Chelsea, ending in 2018 and 2005 respectively.

Liverpool extended their record to 110 points from 38 matches (W36 D2 L0) after beating West Ham United 3-2 in February.

Fastest to 30 wins
The 3-1 victory at Brighton & Hove Albion on 8 July was the Reds' 30th this season, and they achieved that mark in a Premier League record of 34 matches.

Best start ever
When Liverpool reached 61 points from their opening 21 matches, it was the most a team had ever accumulated at that stage in any of Europe's top five leagues.

They went on to extend their record, winning their following six fixtures to rack up 79 points from their first 27 matches before losing at Watford.

Most home wins in a season
Liverpool's 5-3 victory over Chelsea means they joined the Blues, Man Utd and Man City in winning 18 home matches in a Premier League season.

Which records can Liverpool target?
Most victories in a season
Liverpool have 31 and need to win their final match at Newcastle United to equal the 32 victories claimed by Man City in 2017/18 and in 2018/19.

Biggest winning margin
Liverpool have an 18-point lead and could yet equal or beat Man City's record winning margin of 19 points in 2017/18.

Sorry, Bro, not exactly true.

After the first game, Liverpool were third, even though they won 4-1 against Norwich.
The two Manchester clubs were ahead on goal difference.
But from the second game onwards, they were first all the way.

Klopp loves Reds’ story but “it’s not finished yet” as he plots improvement

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants his Premier League champions to be even more uncomfortable to play against next season.

Prior to March’s lockdown the Reds had taken 82 points – more than second-placed Manchester City will reach if they win on Sunday – from 29 matches with just one defeat and one draw to virtually guarantee a first title in 30 years.

Wednesday’s 5-3 victory over Chelsea made it three seasons unbeaten at home in the league, but as they head into their final match of the campaign at Newcastle with an 18-point gap at the top, Klopp is expecting more from his players.

“We will not change: we try to improve. Is is possible to improve it for a longer period? I would say yes,” he said.

“We make a cut when the season is finished on Sunday, enjoy it, be happy, and then mid-August we start training again and from that moment on we will try it again with all we have and nothing will hold us back.

“It is a really nice story the boys have written over the years but it is not finished yet – we decide when it is finished.

“I want to see us fighting for whatever the next trophy is, fighting on the pitch and enjoying the hard work and as long as we do that we have a good chance.

“First thing, as always, is to be a team no one wants to play against. I think we are like this but we can be more uncomfortable.”

Sunday will bring to a close 14 remarkable months which have seen Liverpool win the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, Club World Cup and Premier League.

Klopp admits last summer’s victory in Madrid over Tottenham, coming 12 months after losing the Champions League final to Real Madrid, was the turning point.

“That doesn’t make it easier but it gives you the proof that it is possible,” he added.

“As we all know, I am a specialist in coming second so that needs some mental strength to try it again and try it again and if you open the box of Pandora then that helps massively.

“I could see that when we won the Champions League last year made all the other things happen, plus the season we played before: 97 points and then we won the Champions League was really a special year.

“When you are that close you have to invest more and then get over the line and that is exactly what happened.

“We will stay greedy, we have to and we will. But if that then leads automatically to more trophies I don’t know because other teams have other reasons to make the next step and how we saw again on Wednesday night, the distance between us and Chelsea is not 30-odd points: that night it was two goals and a tricky moment when Pulisic missed the target.”

A 31st victory of the season on Wednesday lifted Liverpool’s points tally to 96, a number synonymous at the club with the Hillsborough tragedy in terms of how many fans lost their lives in the 1989 disaster.

I agreed too.

Similar to BVB., he retained the German league after winning.

So long his players hungry for success and playing to win with monster mentality then can be consistent.

Liverpool had been consistent and the rest of the teams didn't especially MC which played poorly.

Last season Liverpool with 97 points didn't win and now with 1 game to play already accumulated 96 points which proves consistency.

Hopefully Klopp can plot the team to be unpredictable in playing. I hope more players can change roles or wings so that there will be unpredictable.

Hopefully Trent will score more free kicks and can tell he had been working hard with his free kicks.

So long Liverpool dun lose star players baring injury next season then should be a good season.

What an utterly incredible season, 99 points; following on from 97 points. That is 29 dropped points in 2 seasons. 5 more than the invincibles of Arsenal in that one season

196 points over two seasons is just absolutely sensational. Unbelievable.

Just goes to show how incredibly good this team is.

We go again next season more of the same please.

As an aside, I think the Brodge has done brilliant with Leicester. However, serious questions will be asked of his mentality again. That Leicester-United match was like a replica of our game against Chelsea 6 years ago.

We cannot blame anyone esp. Sterling because BR was playing players out of position and very defensive. RS good only if he had speedy players playing alongside him. Look at his goals scored recently.

BR likes to attack only with lone player and then back pass.

RS did said if he knew Klopp coming he will not leave. God knows how good he will be then if he stayed.

Coutinho is a rat and rotten when Barca came calling. This rat cannot be forgiven and never taken back. Klopp asked him to stay and he insisted to leave then really no excuse.

Charlie Nicholas' end-of-season Premier League grades

Liverpool: A+

I didn't think Liverpool could get to this level of consistency. The style of football they play, Manchester City are my favourites to watch with that style, but Liverpool offer you energy, speed, movement, skill, touch, and more importantly, a desire right to the end. Even if they're not playing well, they can dig out results.

They are the one club who need the supporters more than any other team, because of the way they are. No one quite does it like Liverpool in England, driving them out of being average.

There's one game in particular I remember, Aston Villa away. They were terrible. 1-0 down, should've been 2-0 down, and all of a sudden Andy Robertson pops up, I think Sadio Mane got the other one. They weren't satisfied with the draw, it was having another chance of winning. That's what you call rock and roll football.

Coutinho is a rat and rotten when Barca came calling. This rat cannot be forgiven and never taken back. Klopp asked him to stay and he insisted to leave then really no excuse.

But we must also be thankful that if not for the sale of Couti, Pool wouldn't have the $ to buy Vvd n Alisson.. :D

Liverpool evening headlines as club brand value soars above Manchester City

Liverpool climb above Manchester City as brand value of club revealed

Liverpool have been named as the fourth most valuable football club brand in the sport, pushing the Anfield club above Manchester City in the rankings.

The recently crowned Premier League champions saw their value rise by £64.3million over the last 12 months according to a new report published by Brand Finance.

This puts Liverpool behind Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United in the rankings of the most valuable football club brands, but the figures suggest the Merseyside club are closing the gap on the latter.

Real Madrid are top of the list with a total value of £1.286billion (a £205m fall from last year) with Barcelona just behind on £1.280billion (a rise of £18.1m).

Mcity is nowhere near the top rankings imo. It's only recently they rise to prominence when they were bought by rich$$$ owners n they've not even won the CL or European Cup before. This year could be a good chance for them though.
When Pool was dominating Europe, Mcity only won that little League cup with that famous overhead kick by Dennis Tueart. :D

Read Nike's open letter in full below...

Dear Liverpool,

Thank You.

It feels good to finally be together.

It felt like at times it might never come true, but like you we don't listen to never.

Like a football club from Liverpool was never meant to boss the world.

But like us you don't just feed off doubt, you revel in it.

We know that if it can't be done, it'll happen here.

Because this is where miracles come for their big night out.

Where impossible gets a clip round the ear.

And when you hear never, it's already done.

Tell Us Never.

Yours,

Nike.

We won the league again after 30 years. Can you imagine how (Tell Us Never) may be used against us if we didn't win the league this year? Other fans will really tell us never. Weird slogan

The new jersey is just so Nike plain. Boring. V neck in front and V neck behind too. If you want to buy this jersey, must get the League Champions patch plus World Champion patch to make the jersey looks nicer.

Given that next season all teams can use 5 substitutes, having a lean squad is not helpful. Time to bring back all those on loan like Grujic, Wilson, Nat Phillips, Brewster. They will have a chance to play. Read that we saved $300K in weekly wages with the departure of Clyne, Lallana and Lovren. Hopefully this means we can afford a marquee player too. I hope to see Conor Coady (Wolves Captain) back with us too.

I would prefer "NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE" or "THE NORMAL ONES"

Agree that we should bring back our youngsters, this is the big chance to let them shine and JK is the perfect person to groom them up.

One or two marquee signings should be possible and I'm sure we will spend our money wisely.

So is this done deal?

Thiago will be great choice for no. 6. May have to sell some players to buy Thiago.

A creative midfield to orchestrate the play. Keita supposed to do that but didn't perform till after covid-19 restart.

Unlike Bayern Munich Liverpool dun have a out and out striker like Lewandowski.

Thiago would be an excellent signing and gives us other valuable options. He is world class. Really hope we get him. Might need to wait until Munich finishes with the CL first.

Also no doubt we need to sell before we buy him. I think Wijnaldum shall be sold if we definitely want to buy Thiago.

Shaq doesn't backtrack as much to help out in defence, that could be the reason Klopp didn't play him that much besides his injuries.

It's interesting to see the maneuvering going on for our transfers. There's no doubt other clubs are shadowing our interests because they know our scouting team is far ahead of anybody at this time. The Lewis offer could just be a decoy to throw others off the scent and allow ourselves a free run at our main target. I think we can expect many other such twists in the windows to come. Great times to be a RED!

Especially when we can put World Cup Champions, EPL Champions and European Cup patch (6) on this season's jerseys. Then end up away jersey look so clownish.

Last night's CL quarterfinals between Leipzig v Atletico Madrid.

So glad to see these ***** go out.

The image of them celebrating in front of their fans while Klopp looked on from the touchline is still haunting.

I didn't see the whole game but Upamecano looked very good.

Leipzig are an exciting young side, Hwang coming in as well.

They'll be challenging with Dortmund and Munich again even with Werner gone.
For the life of me, I can't understand how Werner left while his team was still in the CL. Surely, they could have figured that out?

Happy for Nagelsmann. Good manager. One to keep an eye on going forward.

Trent Alexander-Arnold wins Premier League Young Player of the Season

The others will probably never win until TAA is too old for the young player of the season contest. TAA is regarded at the best right back in the world with so many assists every season. I don't think any of the rest is considered best in their position. Why is Anthony Martial in this category? He will be 25 this year

I went to look at the home jersey today. It is 1 shade lighter than last season's red jersey. Not as light red as the photos suggest. Still acceptable. The V neck at the back takes some getting used to. I think the away jersey design seemed like a trend. Other teams have similar designs. Arsenal's away jersey is like Raspberry Ripple ice cream. Chelsea's and Man City's away jersey seemed the nicest

Amazing result

Barcelona trashed 8-2 by Bayern Munich. Truly buried.

Hope they still stay same.

Munich should be favourites for the CL not City; even before yesterday’s performance.

Absolutely fabulous to watch; I cannot see anyone stopping them(except us of course:D).

Must say still very much fancy Thiago coming to Anfield very soon. Fingers crossed things work out.

Thiago is Pool's missing link in midfield. @27m it won't be expensive for a world class midfielder. He's still good for another 4 - 5 seasons.
Really hope he comes to Pool!

Can just imagine our boys sitting back with a beer at their Austrian camp watching the City v Lyon match last night:D

It is now undeniable and irrefutable, Liverpool are the BEST team in England at the moment:cool:

Long may this continue:)

Good to see Judas Sterling missed a simple chance in front of goal in the dying mins which would have changed the game! )

@least Citeh still got the Micky mouse cup to show off this season. LOL...

May be a problem with regards to Financial Fairplay. His wages will be big too.

If Bayern Munich wins the Champions League, we will get an extra bonus because Coutinho would have won the Champions League.

No more English team in Europe competition after all crashed out.

I think German and French benefited from the longer rest.

Anyway no excuse but some how Bernardo Silva will tell Liverpool fans to have a break.

Guardiola will spend and infringed FFP but overturned by CAS for not cooperating

Weston introduced the new Man U away jersey on its facebook. 1 guy went to comment that the latest diving suit from Adidas looks nice. :D

I like that we had taken a two week break and is working on a proper pre-season before the league resumes. Man City and Man U will not be taking their breaks and be 2-3 weeks behind us in preparing for the new season. Even if they buy good players, these players need time to gel into the team. Hopefully we can build up a strong lead by the time we finish the first 10 league games. I think our biggest threat next season will be Chelsea.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain suffers Liverpool pre-season injury blow

Alex Oxalde-Chamberlain has been ruled out of the Community Shield match against Arsenal after suffering an injury to his knee in training.

The midfielder wiill miss the rest of Liverpool's pre-season camp out in Austria after picking up the knock, including the two friendly games with Stuttgart and RB Salzburg.

The 27-year-old was involved in a challenge during training when the incident occured and boss Jurgen Klopp explained that it looks like a smiliar injury to the one captain Jordan Henderson suffered toward the end of last season against Brighton.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has returned to Melwood for rehabilitation with club medical staff.

Thanks for this bro.

If we hit the ground running hard and doing well in our first ten matches(some tough and interesting ones in there), then I think we stand a good chance of getting #20.

On the Ox and this latest unfortunate injury, really feel for him but looks like he shall just be a squad member from now on filling in the homegrown numbers. 20/21 season probably going to be a make or break season for him.

Ox gona be another Sturridge eventually.. Pool definitely need to get another midfielder, CB n striker. Keita also I believed won't be long he'll get injured again!
