GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! scored by Nunez in 93 min

Pool lead by 2-1 and let's get over the line with 3 points in the bag

3 points indeed!!!

Wow wtf omg!!!

Consecutive match another red card shown to our Captain. This time I am not sure Liverpool will appeal.

Allison was a HUGE giant of the goal post. Thanks Ali for helping to win.

OH Darling Darwin. You are amazing scoring two goals almost same strike.

Liverpool still have plenty of work to do and solve the defence including midfield. Hope some new signings before window closed.

Alisson saved the match for us!

Nunez won the match for us!

Big shout outs to Harvey, Joe and Salah.

Quansah looks like one for the future.

Thank goodness Eddie Howe took off Tonali and Gordon, big mistake. So too that twat Jason Tindall who thought he had 'silenced' Klopp but eventually got 'silenced' by Jurgen at the end instead, lol!

Finally Klopp needs to be applauded for getting it right after VVD was sent off! Hopefully Jurgen now stops with this hybrid midfield system and reverts to a flat back 4. Also let's have Nunez starting for a change. Darwin and Salah seem to have a good understanding.

Must also say, the fist pumping and chest thumping at the end of the match together with the chanting between Klopp and the traveling Kop brought tears to my eyes!

Great feeling, great start to the week!

Vamos!

Very well summarized.

Think the referees are targeting Liverpool players and manager.

Hope to have some consistencies and get some points from the next 4 fixtures.

Only Spurs match will be tough in the fifth match.

Liverpool agree £34m Ryan Gravenberch transfer : https://www.thisisanfield.com/2023/08/liverpool-agree-34m-ryan-gravenberch-transfer/

We signed a player trained in Ajax's system. Should be a good fit. 1.9m tall, he will bring some height for us for set piece situations. We should be able to rotate our midfield effectively for the season ahead. More importantly, he is budget friendly.

Did you all see the recent video of Fabinho interacting with a Saudi fan? Normally fans get the players to autograph jerseys and stuff. This Saudi guy went up to Fabinho with a gift. He took his hand and help him wear a Rolex. Fabinho's face was quite stunned when he realised he had just received a Rolex.

Comfortable scoreline 3-0.

Really got the job done early and finished AV off within 55 mins.

Solid backline and good goal keeping. Clean sheet is definitely welcome.

Szoboslzai is proven world class after 4 matchdays. The goal he scored worthy pf number 8 since Stevie Gerrard days.

PL is definitely the best league and most coverage news. Many who had left or never played in PL dun have so much news in media.

Klopp is happy that fans sang his song after the match upon his request.

I am not sure what he tried to do with his legendary status.

Why any legend leave after aging felt the club owed him anything.

Should be ok. We have a hungry player who is eager to prove himself. He gets some criticism for not joining the national team in order to settle in. But don't forget who the Dutch National Team captain is. VVD will help him explain.

It's a blessing for Holland to have a midfielder playing with their best central defender on an almost daily basis. The understanding they will develop gets transferred to the national side.

Heard he actually dropped the Rolex..

Monster, here's the video. :p

So is the summer midfield rebuild completed?

I think the midfield rebuild is complete. Cannot change too many players all at once. In Klopp's 4-3-3, the midfield don't really contribute in terms of assists (we have robertson/TAA/the 3 forwards for this) and goals (we have the 3 forwards for this).

The midfield in his strategy is to close down spaces energetically and recycle possession back to the front 3. Think of Gini, Henderson, Milner, Emre Can etc, they don't really score or create many goals.

I think we should sell Salah. $200 million pounds will be hard to refuse for a 31 year old. Especially in a season where we don't have CL money. Salah may go if the paycheck is big enough. As a muslim, being close to Mecca is a big plus. Mane, Koulibaly stated the proximity to Mecca as a key reason why they are in Saudi Arabia.

Why any legend leave after aging felt the club owed him anything.

https://www.empireofthekop.com/2023/09/05/henderson-explains-reasons-liverpool-exit/

He is talking cock. So he thinks he won't get many chances to play this season. Then is going to the Saudi league the best way to prepare for the Euros? Saudi league is how many standard lower than EPL?

There is nothing wrong to say he is there for his final big paycheck. I respect Koulibaly for being honest.

Big Mac or Macca can play no. 6 with Endo backup although Macca is not a real no. 6.

With Szoboslzai playing well as no. 8 and Curtis Jones can play no. 10.

Have at least 1 to 2 backup in each poistion.

At £220m i say Salah should go and thank you very much. It is an unbelievable price for a player of that age. Think we can survive until we find an adequate replacement. We ain't going to win the PL this season and neither are we in the CL, so i think it should be ok.

On the midfield, i dont think its complete as we still need a proper solid reliable long term #6. Endo is not the answer. Mac is wasted in the #6 role, and also i dont think he is that good as a #6 either. At the sametime we still also need to strengthen our Defence.

To me as it stands, i am not convinced that we have enough defensive quality to win the big trophies i e PL and CL. Attack yes but not the Defence. If not for Alisson, i don't think we would have 10 out of 12 points. Big tests to come when we play City, Arsenal, Spurs and even the likes of say Brighton, West Ham, Palace and Brentford.

Finally as for the Henderson interview, he should know himself. He was never that good. Just lucky to be in the right place at the right time, unlucky Stevie G. Just shut up, be grateful and enjoy the money Jordan.

Bear in mind we have some youngsters like Bajectic, Elliot and Curtis as midfielders. Oh still have Thiago.

As for defence, can let Quansah have a go and instead buy another defensive players. Can even allow Nathan Phillips to go on loan.

VVD will be back and guaranteed starting XI. Konate is also guaranteed start after injury recovery. Both Gomez and Matip can backup. Too players to sit on bench is a no no.

Selling Salah at this point of the season will leave the team vulnerable due to lack of a proven striker. Nunez has not proven to be consistent in scoring thou his movement is good but his finishing still needs polishing. Ideally perhaps Liverpool should negotiate to let him go during the Jan transfer window cos by then the Africa competition already starting and we will also likely miss Salah for one month at least..

Jarell Quansah makes his first competitive start for Liverpool in today’s lunchtime encounter with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The centre-back comes into the Reds’ defence at Molineux, with Trent Alexander-Arnold (hamstring) and Virgil van Dijk (suspension) ruled out and Ibrahima Konate on the bench after recovering from injury.

Ryan Gravenberch is named on the bench, while Andy Robertson wears the captain's armband.

Liverpool: Alisson, Gomez, Matip, Quansah, Robertson, Mac Allister, Jones, Szoboszlai, Jota, Salah, Gakpo.

Subs: Kelleher, Endo, Konate, Diaz, Nunez, Elliott, Tsimikas, Gravenberch, Bajcetic

Game of 2 halves.

But we really need to put together a complete performance. A better attacking team and the game could have been out of reach by halftime.

Think we learned a few things:

1) Nunez and Diaz must play as much as possible.

2) Mac isn't really a DM and ideally shouldn't be there (tbf to Mac he was probably very tired after the International Break, that said we still have to solve that 6 problem).

3) Quansah is ready to play.

Our next 3 EPL matches:

West Ham (h)

Spurs (a)

Brighton (a)

MASSIVE games and shall probably give a good indicator which way we are heading this season.

Enjoyed that second half - we are a serious team although I think next week provides our biggest challenge of the season thus far;)

Thought MacAllister and Gomez were brilliant, especially in the second half. Still can’t believe Darwin’s miss or his goal. Also his ability to find space and make those runs is something else. Oh and Ali made an excellent save in the first half.

The quality we can bring on from the bench now is great to see. But we still need a proper solid reliable DM. Get that DM, move MacAllister to an 8 and we win the PL again:D

As an aside, must say it is easy to see why City wanted Paqueta. Thought he was sublime. On the flipside, you’re a goose Antonio for mouthing us off pre-match:rolleyes::p

A draw in the North London Derby was also a great result for us. The momentum is building Reds. All in all very happy where we are at, currently:cool:

Think Endo played a very good game as well! Hope to see this carrying on for him in a red shirt.

As for going down and coming back with these 3-1 wins. Let's not get carried away here.

It is not like we have played a team of the quality of say City, although that Newcastle win was amazing.

We really need to stop leaking goals if we want to challenge for the title.

Anyways one step at a time.

Let us first try and keep a clean sheet on Saturday.

That said I would still take a win even if we leaked goals including going behind again first:D

Spurs and Ange like to play from the back so it wouldn’t surprise me if Gakpo starts this one with Diaz and Salah to press the crap out of them for the first 50 mins or so.

If we can go 1/0 up for a change Spurs will take risks and come at us and that’s when Nunez can come on and take advantage. Will be very interesting to see which way Klopp goes.

On the flip side if Spurs play a high line then Nunez will eat them up in behind. The trick in this one is not to concede first, get them to chase the game & Nunez will get a brace.

Anyways keep Maddison quiet, keep Son quiet, don't less Bissouma bully our midfield and we'll win this comfortably;)

What's the point of VAR then? It's a normal free flowing game that ended with 9 yellow cards and 2 red cards. Super card happy referee. Curtis Jones's straight red card is harsh. His foot slided over the top of the ball into the Spurs player. What else can he do to switch his momentum?

We played well and would have won quite easily without these refereeing issues. Spurs were not impressive. Pity Matip scored an own goal with almost the last kick of the game. Joe Gomez had a really poor game.

Too bad Liverpool had to get this nasty treatment from PGMOL. Is fully embarrassing. Tell me is not corruption.

They didn't even bother to draw a line to check Spur's first goal. It may be marginally offside. Richarlison looks like he started off earlier than dumb Gomez

It's a cruel cruel game:(

Spurs players celebrating like they did something great:rolleyes: -
Congrats Spurs, it only took a dubious first red card, a wrongly disallowed goal, Jota the Spurs fella tripped himself for the first booking, and an unlucky bounce in the 96th minute, for you to pull that out with 12 vs 9:mad:

Ryan Babel in instagram later came out with a meme of the ref Simon Hooper in a Spurs kit, similar to what he did to Howard Webb in a United kit all those years ago, very apt i should say:D

Its amazing though, what a performance by the Reds:cool: That performance is worth more then 3 points. Spurs looked good at the start but it was obvious before the dubious sending off of Jones that we were gonna win and go top. You could see that a mile off.

Only Liverpool could be down to 9 men and still believe they can win it. We remain 2 points from the leaders. I'm furious, but I'm not discouraged. Hope this will ignite the fires in the bellies of our players. Finishing off every opponent we meet mortal kombat style:)

Going to end off with these quotes from Jurgen...

Klopp: "I have never seen a game like this with the most unfair circumstances and crazy decisions."

Klopp: "I have never been more proud of a team."

PS. Hope Gakpo is not too badly injured.

The referee Simon Hooper was also the referee for Wolves Vs Man U. He failed to give Wolves a late penalty when the Man U goalkeeper came out of his line and clashed with the Wolves player. He was sanctioned for that as a result. Now another howler of a match.

Dont think it is an excuse.

However, it might just open up another can of worms!

What a stupid ludicrous excuse....
In all fairness the match should be replayed..

From what i understand , the rules set by the FA for the Referess seem to absolve them from any liability when discharging their official duties.

It get's worse!

Apparently under the rules, the Ref and the VAR Officials generally cannot overturn a decision once play starts again after the Review. This explains why the Ref did not stop play and correct the grave error once both the VAR Officials and him had realised that it had been made. Totally absurd but think these are the rules.

Gather Liverpool FC has just issued a public statement in reply to the PGMOL's public acknowledgment of the VAR error stating that this grave serious VAR error has undermined the sporting integrity of the game. The club is reserving all its rights and putting pressure on the PGMOL to resolve this terrible matter appropriately.

Ball now in Howard Webb and PGMOL's court to see if they can convince all stakeholders that this terrible grave serious VAR error has not indeed undermined the sporting integrity of the game.

Alot now depends on how much and how long pressure from the stakeholders can be applied on Howard Webb and the PGMOL and even the FA to get total Transparency in the review of this terrible matter, including a full disclosure of all the material voice recordings of the VAR Officials and the Ref.

Minimum action - both material VAR Officials should be sacked from their jobs for gross negligence and the FA Ref rules should be changed asap to allow the VAR Officials and Refs to correct and remedy these sort of gross VAR errors even after the game has been restarted after Review.

Unfortunately for Liverpool, I agree, seems like practically, nothing can be done to turn this wrong into a right for them. Just have to hope that Klopp can turn this injustice and unfairness into a searing light to try and help push us to the title this season.

They would not allow it coz by doing all clubs will have same request . The FA cannot handle it . Also by doing they also indirectly admit they failed doing their job

I think one reason why VAR changed this season is due to the insistence of playing the full 90 minutes. It resulted in a lot of extra time added. Live coverage is very expensive. So in order to not go beyond the live coverage booking time, time has to be saved elsewhere. The lengthy VAR reviews became the sacrifice needed. That is probably why lines are no longer drawn on reviews. Takes up too much time if there are many tackles or goals in a match.

I am not convinced that Spurs first goal is definitely onside.

There are oredi rumours on the bookies bamboo telegraph network this will be a "happening" match.

Also consider the following facts.... Simon Hooper was heavily in debt and facing bankruptcy at the early part of the year. Now barely 6 months later not only has he cleared his debt.... he has even upgraded his car.

I wonder do they have any agency similar to CPIB in the UK?

I am sure they have an independent body unlike our CPIB that have to answer to PMO on their findings or even to carry out an investigation...interestingly was catching up on this BBC drama LINE OF DUTY, they have a fictitious police dept called AC-12 that conducts and nabs "bent coppers" and what they called "institutional corruption" cops that are under the payroll of the OCG (Organized Crime Group)..I can't help but feel that such "institutional corruption" is already happening in the PGMOL..

This bamboo telegraph thingy is from the older generation.... youngsters dun even know what that is.

In the days where there was no internet or mobile phones and landlines were only available to the rich & elite of society..... the common people communicated by using the bamboo telegraph network.
With the introduction of computers, handphones & electronic devices the bamboo telegraph eventually died out.
But it was revived back into use by gambling syndicates mainly in the PI and INA to avoid surveillance by the police.... and it became popular again amongst bookies and gamblers.
Now bookies in many countries prefer using this system rather than electronic devices which are vulnerable to being hacked by the authorities. HK, Macau, PI, INA, Mudland, LOS, Cambodia, Laos, VN all have bamboo telegraph networks and some parts of Europe are also starting to use it especially those places with large numbers of Asians.
It may be an old and primitive system.... but it is very effective in keeping secrets within the house and not vulnerable to modern surveillance technology.

Can anyone explain to me how and why both material VAR and AVAR wrongly assumed that the ON-FIELD decision which was being checked was assumed by them to be an ON-SIDE goal, when the material LM had his his Flag Up for an OFF-SIDE goal??

As for whether Liverpool should push for a Replay, think this is a tough call.

Seems like all the pundits and fans from other clubs are against a Replay. Even quite a few Reds supporters seem to be against a Replay as well.

Perhaps the Reds can reserve all their rights until close to the end of the season and see how things turn out.

Bro Escobar, you are correct.
A replay will not happen as it sets a dangerous precedence.

What might happen is LFC sues PGMOL for costs....
I suspect that will happen.
Just like Leeds, Southampton and Leicester plan to sue Everton if confirmed that Everton overspent budget last season.

But according to MailOnline, Leeds, Leicester and Southampton have now written a joint letter to the Premier League to inform Everton and their prospective new owners that they plan to sue the Toffees for £300million should they be found guilty of breaching spending rules.

So 1 point gain or 2 points loss.

Watched the Brighton vs Liverpool highlights both sides could hv won or lost. So draw is fair results.

Arsenal played well to beat MC.

if this continue in the season meaning any team with 80 to 85 points can win the title.

I think that this game probably shows us where we are: we are a team that will need to fight to get in the top four.

Which is probably what we expected before the season started. But the early games helped us think we were ahead of schedule but I'm not sure we are. We have alot to do.

As for the game itself, a draw is probably a fair result, disappointing from being in a winning position though.

Such a shame about the Gravenberch miss. We score that we win comfortably. That said, Gravenberch should have started the game. Last week's game robbed us of options from the bench.

That first goal we conceded though, was just a comedy of errors:mad:.....it was like watching Virgil doing his best impression of Harry Maguire, Mac Allister doing his best impression of current Casemiro, and Alisson doing his best impression of Onana:rolleyes::D

And as for our second goal conceded, dont get me started on Robertson!

I am now also very concerned when Salah heads off for Afcon early next year. He seems to be in top form at the moment and it would be a shame to loose him for one month at such a vital part of the season:(

Oh yeah, must say i am impressed by De Zerbi. Perhaps one to keep in mind when Klopp finally says goodbye to Anfield.

I just don't understand the need for all these play from the back, they pass the ball to and fro and let the opponent close in on them...they should just stick to the good old days where the keeper just whack the ball up....i believe this is not the first time The Red lost possession of the ball from such situation...

Bro,
Using the goalie as an extra in-field player gives the team an advantage.
If goalie just kicks up, it is 50-50 who gets the ball. That is why last time, centre-forwards always big, so got chance to fight for the ball but still 50-50.

From a tactical perspective, the modern goalkeeper is crucial in creating overloads in the team’s own half. Given the opposition goalkeeper will not push up to mark an attacker, the in-possession team will be able to guarantee numerical superiority in their own half – an 11v10 – if they use their goalkeeper to build play.

That is why so many teams do it now.

I think first started by Pep in Barcelona.

Think Klopp really needs to make sure our lads are well and truly up for this.

I agreed the gk acts as a additional player in the field but i also feel the players themselves must be comfortable with such a system...we had seen not once but a few times the players getting dispossess and result in a silly goal to give away..but some times i see Alisson passes to a player already tightly closed down by the opponents putting unnecessary pressure on the player themselves....the Brighton match, i knew some how they going to score a goal sooner or later from such play...:(

Is just tactics, many times the pressing opponents may expose themselves and players can launch a through pass upwards. Liverpool scored some nice goals playing these tactics.

All about the players and Big Macca is new to No.6 and will need to work harder.

latest from the PGMOL on suggested improvements.

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/67072868

Personally, I do not see anything said that will prevent what happened in the last 2 weeks.

I have been watching the Rugby World Cup and see two important differences.

a) When using their VAR equivalent
i) their discussion is on air. Everyone hears what is discussed.
ii) The video ref can call the referee and tell him what he missed.. Unlike soccer where video refs have only limited purview.

b) Any questioning /disagreements from the players are not tolerated. Straight warning and if repeated, yellow card.
Only captain can approach the ref.

PGMOL chief Howard Webb explains why Chelsea's Malo Gusto was shown a red card after the VAR intervened following a tackle on Lucas Digne and Manchester City's Mateo Kovacic only saw a yellow card for a similar incident against Arsenal.

This is really bs. See the men in centre all out to target Liverpool team.

Think bro WJ explained the rationale extremely well (see above post)

That said i well agree with you when it comes to this current Liverpool team making the play.

Had my heart in my mouth quite often during the Brighton game when we played out from the back. Unnecessary danger at times.

Think Klopp really needs to make sure our lads are well and truly up for this.

Why Klopp loves Allison.

Tbf it's a new system with a few new players as well.

So give them more time.

But Klopp and his coaching staff together with the squad still need to work harder to get it right.

Btw I still think Alisson is one of the best GKs in the world and has already saved our bacon numerous times this season. That said, he still should not take unnecessary high risks.

Playing out from the back under high press, yes.

But then again must try not to take unnecessary high risks either.

As for Mac Allister, I think he cmi as a #6 (https://sbfs.social/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=6) . Actually i feel sorry him as he is wasted in that position as his main strong skillset lies further up the field in transition play. It is instructive that he was outstanding last season at Brighton playing together with a real solid #6 (https://sbfs.social/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=6) Caicedo, whom ironically we almost signed as well.

Back to our #6 (https://sbfs.social/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=6) problem. Not sure what is going on with Endo? Seems like he might be turning into another Ben Davies and Arthur situation?! If Endo cmi as our #6 (https://sbfs.social/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=6) then we really need to go all out and get a proper competent #6 (https://sbfs.social/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=6) during the winter transfer window.

If we don't, it is obvious that we are going to pay a heavy price come end of the season.

Is just tactics, many times the pressing opponents may expose themselves and players can launch a through pass upwards. Liverpool scored some nice goals playing these tactics.

All about the players and Big Macca is new to No.6 and will need to work harder.

Thanks for the link bro.

Think you are right, no real substantive improvements.

Howard Webb and gang seem to be only looking out to protect themselves.

Guess time will tell how long this farce shall be allowed to play out.

Bro Escobar,

latest from the PGMOL on suggested improvements.

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/67072868

Personally, I do not see anything said that will prevent what happened in the last 2 weeks.

I have been watching the Rugby World Cup and see two important differences.

a) When using their VAR equivalent
i) their discussion is on air. Everyone hears what is discussed.
ii) The video ref can call the referee and tell him what he missed.. Unlike soccer where video refs have only limited purview.

b) Any questioning /disagreements from the players are not tolerated. Straight warning and if repeated, yellow card.
Only captain can approach the ref.

Job done. Tough game. Great win in the end. The 3 points is all that matters. Onto the next game.

Key Points from today’s game:

- Young should have been sent off for a 2nd yellow before his 2nd and red card.
- Tarkowski should have been booked before his yellow card and should have been sent off.
- Konate was lucky, should have got a 2nd yellow and then off with a red.
- We should have had a penalty for Patterson’s foul in the box. Not given by VAR.
- The penalty was a clear penalty.
- Salah was poor for most of the game but came away with two goals. Both taken well.
- Gravenberch was amazing in the first half. He is a proper baller.
- Sometimes it’s tougher playing against 10, they go into a low deep block with little space.
We looked more dangerous at 11 v 11.
- I thought we made it way too easy for Everton for too long against 10 men. Not enough
movement. Creative passing isn't really possible unless the runs and the movement is
there.

Think that captures today.

Are we in danger of being too harsh as fans? With a totally new midfield, we are 1 point behind the established squads of Man City and Arsenal. Our midfielders have never played with one another until 2-3 months back. We are scoring more goals than Man City or Arsenal.

The Liverpool 2.0 is in progress and Klopp is the best manager to rebuild.

This is long process and important is consistency through out the season. Another important factor is injuries and how badly can affect the season. Squad had to play a big part.

By May 2024 we can know the results.

Bro Melwood,

it is a team in transition and doing oh so well.
My worry is that AFCON will begin on January 13 with the final set to take place on February 11, 2024.
That means a key player, who has been scoring goals, Salah, will be away during that period.
Not sure how it will affect the team. No other real left sided player in the team.

But Liverpool has only one player out.
Many other EPL teams will be more affected.

Premier League players set for AFCON
Arsenal
Thomas Partey - Ghana
Mohamed Elneny - Egypt
Aston Villa
Bertrand Traore - Burkina Faso
Bournemouth
Hamed Traore - Ivory Coast
Dango Ouatarra - Burkina Faso
Antoine Semenyo - Ghana
Brentford
Frank Onyeka - Nigeria
Bryan Mbuemo - Cameroon
Yoane Wissa - DR Congo
Brighton
Tariq Lamptey - Ghana
Carlos Baleba - Cameroon
Simon Adingra - Ivory Coast
Samy Chouchane - Tunisia
Burnley
Anass Zaroury - Morocco
Lyle Foster - South Africa
Chelsea
Nicolas Jackson - Senegal
Crystal Palace
Jordan Ayew - Ghana
Cheick Doucoure - Mali
Everton
Idrissa Gueye - Senegal
Fulham
Calvin Bassey - Nigeria
Alex Iwobi - Nigeria
Fode Ballo-Toure - Senegal
Liverpool
Mohamed Salah - Egypt
Luton
Issa Kabore - Burkina Faso
Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu - DR Congo
Manchester United
Andre Onana - Cameroon
Sofyan Amrabat - Morocco
Hannibal Mejbri - Tunisia
Amad Diallo - Ivory Coast
Nottingham Forest
Serge Aurier - Ivory Coast
Willy Boly - Ivory Coast
Ibrahim Sangare - Ivory Coast
Moussa Niakhate - Senegal
Cheikhou Kouyate - Senegal
Taiwo Awoniyi - Nigeria
Ola Aina - Nigeria
Sheffield United
Ismaila Coulibaly - Mali
Anis Ben Slimane - Tunisia
Tottenham
Pape Matar Sarr - Senegal

West Ham
Mohamed Kudus - Ghana
Maxwel Cornet - Ivory Coast
Nayef Aguerd - Morocco

Clearly comfortable win and Forests wasn't much of a threat.

Good win with a clean sheet and nice gesture by Jota for Luis Diaz:cool:

Szoboszlai and Mac Allister were outstanding.

However think Gravenberch still not up to speed as he was no way as good as he was last Thursday against Toulouse.

Also I think Klopp needs to look hard at the right side of our defence which looked vulnerable at times. Quality teams like City and Arsenal would probably gives us grief if we carry on like this:eek:

Actually even Tsimikas on the left ain't too hot either.

As it stands, still only top 4 challenge to me as our defending does not seem tight enough to win the PL.

Home QF now and a pathway opening up to reaching the final and hopefully winning this competition. With the Europa group already pretty much wrapped up, we can now give the Carabao full attention...it will be over before the Europa gets serious in the springtime.

The TAA to the centre isnt working. Now we lack width on the right. The whole attack looks unbalanced. And Nunez cant keep missing such easy chances.

We really need to sort out RB and get a proper DM in January.

Very pleased with the results on Sunday!

Endo looking not bad, Nunez slowly but surely going to come good, Salah being Salah and Jota being the clinical goal scorer that he is. Biggest credit however has to go to our captain VVD, great to see him back to his best! Special mention to Matip who I thought was very good as well.

Also worth noting that, subsequent to City conceding four at the Bridge and despite all the concerns over our defence, we've actually conceded the joint lowest number of goals - 10, along with Arsenal - in the PL, combined with being the third-highest scorers.

Obviously we're just under a third of the way through the season and things can change quickly, but that's not to be sniffed at compared to our top 4 competitors, even more so with a whole new midfield.

Oh yeah, as for the Thriller at the Bridge on Sunday, Chelsea actually showed everyone how to beat City:cool:

City wil concede goals when put under pressure. So we just got to throw everything at City like we have nothing to lose in 2 weeks time, and we shall, stand a chance to win. They™ll be scared of Nunez:D

Finally would like to end on this note after having a closer look at the current PL table.

If and buts, but dispatching Luton (third from bottom) would put us top of the league. It's the draws that kill you! We'd have won the PL under Benitez but only for the number of draws we had. Think you're better off gambling to get all three points if you're going into the final 10-minute level;)

Like what Klopp said at the post match press conference, both sides not at their best but generally the Reds played well enough to deserve a draw.

Also think Klopp needs to tell our players when attacking, don't always look to go all the way for a strike but just try and unleash shots at the goal whenever the chance arises.

Darwin not clinical but so too were others at times.

Must give credit to Kostas as well. Thought he might get shredded on the left with Foden and Walker but glad to see him hold up strong instead.

Wished Nunez could just strike the goals like how he does for his country....some how I always felt Salah is played on the wrong side, he is a left footer and every time he brings the ball down, he has to cut in using his left foot which is a little more difficult and harder to shield the ball compared to when one is using the right foot..and noticed that for the last few seasons, defenders seems to have caught on to his tricks...seems harder for him to beat defenders nowadays..

Think Darwin feels under more pressure when he plays for Liverpool and unfortunately this seems to have a negative impact on him.

Hopefully Klopp, the coaches and perhaps even a psychologist can help Nunez overcome his fears and make him more clinical.

As for Mo, interesting pov bro.

I have my own take on Salah though.

Think Mo is just showing signs of aging and no longer at his peak.

But Salah is still a class player, which can be seen by his passing and the goals he scores.

So I guess we just need to adapt to an aging Mo to get the most from him until we cash in to Saudi Arabia in the near future.

The Reds must be looking for some kind of replacement. Going to be very difficult but inevitable.

Great result, great drama, but definitely not a great performance!!

The highs and lows of being a Liverpool supporter all in a matter of minutes...

Four absolute world class bangers
Nunez looking like a school girl
Sad to see Salah play like this
Diaz was off
Gravenberch was poor
Kelleher, oh dear what can say?! Alisson in goal and that’s that, 5 or 6-0 to the Reds.
Leakier defence than the titanic's hull
What a comeback chaotic win though!!

We are not as good as people would like to think we are. In particular, this hybrid bs needs to stop. It's that we flat out do not have the quality to play the system Klopp wants. Even if it's set up perfectly, the front three don't really justify the risk in continuing to play with that many forwards.

Well done Endo! Game changer. A bit of composure when everyone around him was long on theirs. Brilliant cameo!! Gakpo was also good when he came on, thank goodness!

This game was crazy and definitely shouldn't be like that often

Kelleher was poor and blamed for the first two goals.

What a comeback by Liverpool and Anfield was rocking when Endo scored the equalizer. Then Trent scored the winner.

Wonder why strikers didn't score but all goals from midfielders.

Super sub did the jobs.

It's a funny old game bro!

Tbf to Kelleher, the goals were not just his fault. Our defending was terrible. Think Matip had a bad match. Hope his injury is not serious though.

Our strikers were also having a bad day. That is why all our goals came from somewhere else.

Like I said above, thank goodness for Endo the samurai and Gakpo.

Well, well, well. Who would have thought when we went behind to Fulham that the day would end like this? We get a last gasp win and City get held to a draw by beleaguered Spurs!

So who at midnight thought we would leap-frog City into second place at the end of the day?? Football is the only real-life thing that sometimes feels stranger than fiction. That's why we love it!! Forget predictions, football is unpredictable!!

Sweet Sweet nectar to see Haaland being absolutely **********. Especially missing sitters.

And the ref shafting City on that counter big time. Tops off a wonderful match day!

The hybrid CB is not working for City, with Stones losing form. Walker doesn't work so well as a right sided CB. Gvardiol is shaky.

And KDB feeding Haaland was a major goal source for them last season.

City are vulnerable but let's see how many teams can exploit it. Not everyone plays like Spurs.

Still sitting 2nd in the league. This has been a great weekend for us. And yet it doesn't really feel like we've been that good this season, yet are in 2nd place.

Think we looked the business in some of the early games, but since Luton there are doubts.

I think the whole Spurs thing shook us a bit, we now need to refocus and grind out some wins.

Yup, all in a happy weekend for us, no doubt.

And yes, there is still a lot of football to be played until the end of the season.

The way I see it, let's just take it game by game and see how things pan out in May.

Also hope we give it a good go in the remainder of the Europa. The way this season's going you never can tell, would be very good to have a safety net for CL football next season.

Same ref Simon Hopper from MC-Spurs match, also the one that ref the fiasco from Spurs-Pool match, has been put back in charge of Pool match against SU. Is there a conspiracy? On a side note, despite the win against Fulham, worrying to see Nunez missing out from the score sheet again. Wonder how long more before Klopp patience for him run out...his work rate cannot be disputed but he is bought for the sole reason to score goals..

Great 3 points and still 2 points behind Arsenal in second position.

Also happy that MC lost 3 points.

Winning away to bottom club not easy and result can always be different. Very professional to play patiently and take the opportunity to score.

Once again our strikers failed to score but VVD and Szoboslzai scored.

Kelleher saved and kept us ahead. Good clean sheet.

Did not watch the match. Just saw the highlights and read the commentary.

Seems like we misplaced passes and were sloppy at times. Below par performance.

Strikers not scoring again and the goals had to come from elsewhere.

That said, any win will do, added on another 3 golden points and kept the momentum going.

Move on to Palace next.

Got out of jail again! Liverpool FC you will give me a heart attack:D

The positives of this game were Alisson, Elliott, Gomez, VVD and the 3 points.

The negatives are everything else. Klopp really needs to look at how he's setting up for these away games. When was the last time we played well away from home? There's just no control in our game, everything is so slow and we create so little. The attacking mids we were all excited about in the summer barely get involved in games now. The inverted RB has been found out and easily nullified. Something needs to change!

Had they not been playing against us, I would feel sorry for Palace. They showed up today and made it hard for us.

As for Darwin Nunez, he has stinker after stinker. How much did we pay for him? £60m+ for a striker who wont score 10 goals a season. I used to rate him but now I am finding it impossible to do so:(

On the flipside, Mo Salah the greatest right winger the EPL has ever seen, congrats Mo on your 200th goal:cool: Tbf though Mo was not good today and has been very average of late.

Finally a quick word for Joel Matip. Seems like his recent injury shall rule him out for the rest of the season. Very unfortunate and probably also a sad end to his Liverpool days as I don't think the club shall be renewing his contract. Been a very good servant to the club albeit his injury record has not been too good.

Hope you dun feel so bad after knowing Arsenal were beaten by AV.

Liverpool top of the league regardless of MC results.

Not easy to play so many matches per week.

Hope the injuries can come back fast. As for those injured players well get well soon. Joel Matip seems Klopp wanted him to get a new one year contract. Anyway he will not be expensive. To go to the market to get a new CB will be expensive.

Congrats Mo Salah for 200 goals and 150 goals for Premier League (joint top with Michael Owens).

Elliot had been scoring fro England those goals and not surprised he banged in the winner vs Cystal Palace.

Thou it easy to say, we take the 3 points despite the below par performance. But still there are much to be concern, if the Reds keeps playing as such, they will find it hard to hold on to the top. A good number of fans are getting frustrated with Nunez and his misses....

Thankfully, Klopp replaced Endo for the second half, I think Endo himself was beginning to lose confidence as he was been single out by CP players when he was in possession..

Really wouldn't have thought we'd be top before Christmas (if at all this season). Who knows how long this can last, let's enjoy for now:cool:

Have to say what a week for Villa. Unbelievable! Also what a wonderful season this is turning out to be. So damn competitive, with a new team at the top every week!

Currently the PL is reminding me of what we've seen in Seria A in recent seasons with a proper competivetitle race with few points seperating 4 teams. Though I still can't help but think 1 or 2 teams will pull away at some point post in the new year?

No doubt not easy to play 3 games a week. So our next game in Belgium, the Europa match against USG which is a dead rubber for us, hope Klopp plays our second team and leave our big boys back home to rest. Mind you I would take Darwin Nunez to Begium and play him so he can hopefully score some goals to gain some much needed confidence.

On the Matip contract renewal issue, am aware Klopp wants to extend but not sure management is with him on this one, particularly based on Matip's not so favorable injury record.

Finally really have to say a few words on Alisson:) No better keeper in the world at the moment! He’s worth at least 12-15 points a season, miraculous player! How lucky are we that he is ours?! Makes me laugh to think Kepa cost more and that Onana cost only slightly less:D

I am not so worried and believed Nunez will score goals. He terrorized defence and defenders were afraid of him.

The whole squad is important and contributed.

I dun think Aston Villa had the squad to compete.

I was impressed with Quansah in CB this season. Also Gomez playing well coming on as sub or starting.

It has been coming.

We've had a number of poor performances recently and got away with them at the end.

I thought our press was excellent. Probably the best this season.

However very little quality in and around the box which is to be expected from our selection of forwards as Salah aside they sadly aren’t of the required standard. Oh and unfortunately Salah himself was mediocre today.

There really is no defending Nunez anymore, what does he offer? Very, very little. I really don't see anything in him that convinces me he'll eventually come good.

Nunez and Diaz are just not it. We have massively downgraded from Mane and Bobby, but that is not rocket science to see.

We need better forwards, we have the numbers, but unfortunately the quality is simply not there.

Gone are the days where the pace of the front 3 terrorize the opponents. Just looked at all the passing to and fro no idea what to do next, the whole game slowed down. They really need another player like Firmino, he is the one that linked Salah and Mane. And also has the skill to break down defence. So far none Nunez definitely doesn't look the part. They say he create chaos but in the end so much chaos that he confused himself. Diaz has been poor of late not the same since his father kidnapping. Sozo form seems to have dropped.
