How come we will sell Murphy in the first place? Murphy was combining well with Cisse in pre-season before Murphy was sold.
The club had no money and have to sell before they can buy.

I think the 2 boys that will break through next season will be Sterling and Coady...

Usually new players need some time to adapt when they change clubs.
Next season he should be showing his true talent.
Remember Lucas? His first season with us was also horrible but look how he has developed into a quality player.

Me dun tink BR will keep Lucas.
Lucas is a destroyer, not the holding and passing player that BR prefers.
Unless Lucas suddenly improves his passing skills +500% I can't see him featuring in BR's team.

It would be great to see home grown talent. Here in Singapore, we don't get as much news about up and coming talent from the Academy, which is why I highlighted the article. Hope he does well.
Bro, those were in the early days of the EPL. I remember Fowler missing sitters and tripping on the ball as he was dribbling. Doubt youngsters these days will be given as much time to develop.
I was watching a recent documentary that details the 20th anniversary of the EPL. The EPL was partly set up to reverse the talent drain in the league. This is partly due to the 5 year ban from 1986-1990 for British clubs in European competitions due to the Heysel tragedy. Back then, top players like Rush, Gazza, David Platt were playing overseas. The top talent of Holland, Italy, Germany seldom play in the First Division. British players were given more time to develop.
With the subsequent success of the EPL, European talent soon flooded the EPL and British talent in the top clubs aren't given as much time to develop. Actually, I think Mellor could have made it if we had given him more playing time. Mellor can't be worse than Voronin right? His scoring record in the Reserves was impressive. Both Danny Murphy and Stephen Warnock continue to feature regularly in the EPL. I thought Murphy was good. After he left, it's like we had a gap in the right midfielder slot which we tried to solve with several players like Nunez, Gonzales, Kewell and finally chose a striker (Kuyt) to fill in the gap. How come we will sell Murphy in the first place? Murphy was combining well with Cisse in pre-season before Murphy was sold.

I have always mentioned that Football now is too commcialized, be it the owners of the clubs OR the fans..
English football is generating more income than anyone could've imagine because of the high sposors pricing, fans tix, garment prices, etc etc..
All these are happening because they are taking other nationality into the english game - do you think it will be that profitable and enjoying if all or if not most - are english players?
Prides - satisfactions are not the priority to them now - money is...do you think sponsors and tv rights can still go on if less foreigners don't come into the english games...
Well..the world is changing - profits commercially is more important than sporting reasons :D

last season alone seems a lot easier as compared to this season. Then again we rarely play well on opening day even if we won. Crystal Palace away in 94 was the only one where Liverpool actually played well and got a good result.

Not only do their top players play in their own leagues, their top players play in the same team in the league. I think it is a strategy for Bayern Munich to buy Germans players so that they can gel together and benefit the German team. The bulk of the starting 11 for Spain comes are Barcelona and Real Madrid. English players play in their own leagues too. Few English players play abroad. The problem is a lot of English players don't play for the big teams in the EPL so these English players don't get Champions League exposure. Henderson, Downing, Kelly etc.
Anyway, England is in the quarter finals. Hope to see Carroll growing in confidence and experience.

Warrior is made-in-China company so I have my doubts about the quality of their stuff. I have not tried the new jerseys personally but friends who have bought them are telling me to give them a miss as they are very uncomfortable in our climate conditions. Maybe if you live in the colder countries then it may be worth a buy.

Totally agree, same experience. My only wish now is that it will thin out as we wash it more often. Not sure if it applies to everyone but I remember my secondary school T shirts are made of cotton too. The more I wear and wash, the thinner it sort of become. The new jersey needs to be ironed some more. Otherwise it looks crumpled.

I collect the kits but don't wear them so I don't know first hand about the material on warm days but so far the most complains I have heard abt the new kits is that the sponsor peels off pretty easily like the recent Adidas kits.

No disrespect, but i luv my club and never since ive supported them since 1990 hv i been so unexcited abt e jersey... Well the home kit at least...
The red doesnt look like a normal Liverpool red n e contrasting yellow linings n wordings looks so un-highlighted n fady... It just feels so outclassed by the other giants... Sigh...

Fans and press I have come to expect, but I want to see the bosses walk the talk and give Rodgers more time, even if he does not take us back into CL next season. Too much shit went on in not backing Kenny, but this time the Yanks have got their (young) man so no more excuses from them.

RIP Miki YNWA.
Agreed. He retired in March 2011.
Young footballer Miki Roque, who spent five years in Liverpool's academy between 2005 and 2009, has died of pelvic cancer. The youngster even made a Champions League appearance for the Reds against Galatasaray back in 2006 and played on loan at Oldham Athletic. The defender had been at Spanish side Real Betis and was diagnosed with cancer in March 2011 before announcing his retirement from football to battle the illness. RIP.
On a separate note: Luis Suarez bags hat-trick in Miami
Luis Suarez took part in a charity game in America over the weekend, which finished with an unlikely 7-7 scoreline. The Uruguayan was one of the stars of the show, bagging a hat-trick, matched by none other than fellow South American Lionel Messi. The game also starred former Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano, and the now former Premier League striker Didier Drogba. Argentine star of the past Ariel Ortega also scored in the match. Luis Suarez has been enjoying his Miami holiday, last week he was snapped at the American Airlines Arena watching Liverpool shareholder LeBron James lead Miami Heat to the NBA Championship.

Pool does not need an ageing striker. Suarez n Carroll are good enuff to be in d regular 1st 11. Bellamy as backup. I think Pool now need to source for a 4th backup striker, someone young, probly 18-20 n groom him for the future.
afterall, bella should retire in d next few years while it'll not be surprising if Suarez n Carroll leave if there's an overwhelming offer. kinda disappointing that Pacheco didnt work out altho he had been performing in d youth academy for a few good seasons.

I feel that Liverpool currently have too many central players especially in the midfield and we are definitely lacking options in the wide areas.
- Gerrard
- Lucas
- Adam
- Shelvey
- Spearing
- Aquilani
- Henderson
Sigurðsson by trade is a central attacking player. If he eventually decides to sign for Tottenham and not Liverpool, I'm sure that should not be seen as a major miss out.
If Brenden Rogers were to play his favoured 4-3-3 formation, will we have enough players to fill the wide areas? Or are we gonna go back to using Henderson out right?
- Joe Cole
- Downing
- Maxi Rodriguez
- Craig Bellamy

Watching the euro final, I think Reina might leave us to secure his place in the Spain 2014 World Cup squad. Iker Casilas of Real Madrid and Victor Valdes of Barcelona are getting Champions League exposure. David De Gea of Man U might just take Reina's place if Reina stays with us. If we can get a good price on Reina, it might make sense to sell him now before he hands in a transfer request. His performances for us last season has been erratic by Reina's standards.

Torres started his career with Atlético Madrid, progressing through their youth system to the first team squad. He made his first team debut in 2001 and finished his time at the club having scored 75 goals in 174 La Liga appearances.
As you mentioned, we unearthed these gems. That's the sweet part. When they become men of substance, they leave us for another team. To me, that's the bitter part. I'm sure you will agree that we will welcome them back with open arms anytime right? Even Mascherano won the Champions League with Barcelona 2 seasons back after leaving us. Not too good for us that when a player leaves us, he wins silverware. That plays into the minds of existing players.
On a separate note, this is brilliant stuff. Do check it out. http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/have-you-seen/lfc-s-15-best-away-kits. Brings back memories.

We're only 5 days into the transfer window so I hope there will be at least some transfer activity for Liverpool.
I'll be very happy if we manage to keep hold of our key players at least for this summer, amidst rumours that Luis Suarez has been linked with a move to Juventus.
Otherwise, we should be looking to buy wide players, hopefully at affordable prices.
With Joe Cole and Aquilani back from their loan spells at Lille and AC Milan respectively, it feels like we have already made 2 new signings.

It's good to be back after busy busy week chaperone the kids from the Lion City tourney. Hope some of them can remember me when they become big name stars in the future.
BR had his 1st meeting with the team and indirectly hinted there's gonna be a clear out... he is giving those players that dun want to leave Liverpool to fight for their place.
Transfer activity so far :-
OUT : Dirk Kuyt, David Amoo, Stephan Darby
IN : Nil
Players that BR likes : SG, JC, LS, PR, DA, JH, JS....... so it looks like these few are going to form the mainframe of his team.

It's great to see the team back in pre-season training at Melwood..
I see the likes of Lucas and Charlie Adams taking part, which means that they are doing well in the rehab from their injuries..

Two important players of the squad so great to see them back.
We always talk about Cole, AA, but if we are serious about them, we must give them a run in the team. Or else sell them off. The loans are terrible and I feel very sorry for AA to be bounced around between clubs.
Kuyt has left, so we need to replace him - that should mean a proper striker (or at least a pacy striker who can also play right).
We need another winger - I am not convinced by Downing so we need to add some competition there.
So many big name players in our side, under-achieving some badly.

Exactly what I feel too.
We need to add at least 1 striker and 1 out-and-out winger to the current squad. Anything more is definitely bonus given the fact that potentially the transfer budget is going to be small. Brendan Rodgers is likely to have to sell before buying.
I think Brendan Rodgers will allow players to prove themselves and play for their places in the starting XI so hopefully the likes of Joe Cole, Aquilani and Maxi will get to play more regularly.
We are all aware of Liverpool's problem in the final third for the 11/12 season so it will be of top priority that Brendan Rodgers rectify this problem.

Yes he shined for Blackpool in the Championship.
Even games where he did well for Liverpool were against Championship sides in the FA Cup and a weakened Chelski.
I will never forget his horrible display against Newcastle as well, he has a lot to do to be a Liverpool player imo unless our standards have dropped so much.

Borini news from the Echo.
As for Rodellega, he is more of a replacement for Andy Johnson and Fulham's loan signing last season who went to Reading now, Progbenyak. Don't forget Fulham lost Zamora too so they been needing a striker for a long time. So I won't take this as any indication that Dempsey is leaving.
Only indication so far is that Dempsey is not signing an extension.

Sigurdsson: Spurs better than Reds
July 13, 2012
New Tottenham signing Gylfi Sigurdsson has revealed he snubbed a move to Liverpool because he believes there is more chance of success at White Hart Lane.
It was widely expected that Sigurdsson would follow Brendan Rodgers, the manager under whom he flourished on loan at Swansea last season, to Anfield when the Northern Irishman replaced ousted boss Kenny Dalglish.
However, Spurs swooped to hijack the move with an £8 million bid for the Hoffenheim midfielder, who explained his u-turn by pointing out the differing potential of the two clubs.
"Liverpool are also a fantastic club but if you look at where Tottenham have finished in the last few years, they finished above Liverpool," Sigurdsson told The Sun.
"Everything about Tottenham just felt right for me. With a new manager, a new training ground and plans for a new stadium, I believe there are exciting times are ahead.
"I think everyone expected me to follow Brendan. But I had made my mind up to come to Tottenham and I'm happy with my decision.
"Brendan's a fantastic manager, I enjoyed my time at Swansea with him and hopefully he will do well at Liverpool. I spoke to him briefly after I had made my decision.
"What I said to him after I told him I wasn't going to Liverpool is between me and him. Obviously I owe him a lot. But in that sense it's a new era for me."
Bloody liar! If winning trophies is your main reason, why the hell did you sign for Spurs when it was managerless? Why will a team which is trying to win trophies be about to sell away their best player Modric? Just say Spurs pay you more lah...

This is a blow cos BR wanted to keep him. If he and Bellars leave, we will be light in the attacking department, again (tho we have signed Borini). Hope Cole and AA can step up, but that remains to be seen.
Anyone has thoughts about the Terry verdict? I wonder if Suarez had gone to court, the result would have been different? It's very clear how difficult it is to prove words spoken in a football match.
It's a WTF to us and Suarez.

I don't think there was an option to go to court with Suarez's case as no police report was made. Plus, it's a huge risk for Suarez to go to court. Suarez isn't British, if he had lost in court, he would have a criminal record and his work permit might be revoked. We will then have to sell him at a huge loss as his subsequent buyers know he can't play in British clubs anymore.

Congrats to Fabio Borini on becoming our latest Liverpool strikier. Hopefully he can do much better than AC.
There have been rumours that AC could be on the way out if Fulham agrees to the swap of Demsey and another payout of $9 million for AC .
What I hope to see also to see some changes in midfield . we need someone who is a good playmaker and who can control the middle of the pitch . Sadly in recent times SG seemed to be not performing up to par as he is always injured. :(

BUT when called upon as subs they sometimes produce on big occasions, tend to score goals, sometimes crucial ones. We will miss Rodriguez for sure ... juz glad he'll not be joining anthr EPL team. :D

I am not expecting many goals from Borini, maybe 8-12.
In Rodgers system, I think he will play more on the right, basically a direct replacement for Kuyt.
From what I seen, he is a HUGE improvement from Kuyt and he's a really good signing for a good price.
Joe Allen is a good prospect too but I'd like to see Henderson given a chance in the middle cos I think he can show his true potential.
As reports claim, only Charlie Adam is the unwanted midfielder right now and has been offered to Fulham.
I will miss Maxi too, he would have fit into Rodger's system well but what to do?

Bellamy and Joe Cole can play wide too, though. Don't think Sterling will play as much as the more senior players do.
Now that Fabio Borini has arrived to strengthen the forward department, perhaps Brendan Rodgers should concentrate on buying some wide players to balance the team?

Dear Reds, I am leaving Liverpool FC today.
Before signing for LFC, I just saw the club as one of the greatest institutions in football. After my time here I can confirm that this is not just a great club but also a great family.
I have tried to give everything every day that I was wearing the LFC crest. It has been a great honour to defend this shirt during two and a half years. I am returning home with a suitcase full of great memories, good friends within the team and also within this great family that works every day in the club. Thanks a lot for your support. You can NOT imagine what a great honour it was for me when the Kop sang, 'Maxi, Maxi Rodríguez runs down the wing for me da da da da dada...'

Thanks for the videos Regaine. Watching the videos, he seemed to be another Torres for us. That's nice. Plus we don't have to wait for him to get accustomed to English football. Good age too.

The rumour for this one is strong : Clint Dempsey
Clint Dempsey: Liverpool Transfer Makes the Most Sense for USMNT StarBy Ned Harwood(Featured Columnist) on July 14, 2012 11,922 reads

Next Scott Heavey/Getty Images Apart from the Robin Van Persie saga, the Clint Dempsey dilemma might be the most talked about EPL transfer story so far this offseason. Every single week there seems to be a new twist to the story, as the Fulham star looks destined for a club upgrade in the next couple of weeks.
Arsenal and Liverpool seem to be the favorites for the American at this point, but as of right now, nothing has materialized between the two prestigious clubs and Dempsey’s current Fulham.
A move to Anfield makes the most sense for Clint Dempsey, and here’s why.
First off, it is evident that Dempsey is indeed a late bloomer and just entered his prime last season at the age of 28. That being said, he needs to be able to get maximum first team action these next couple of years if a team wants to get the most for their money.
Of all the potential teams interested, Liverpool is maybe the one club that would be an upgrade from Fulham, but could still allow him to compete every weekend and make significant contributions. Arsenal already have a plethora of attackers, and considering how much Wenger likes to develop his young players, might give the nod to Ryo Miyaichi or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in games where Dempsey could be playing.
Also, changing leagues always results in a little adjusting-time for any player, and that adjusting time could keep Dempsey out of the first XI for a little bit and create an unnecessary road bump in his prime.
With Maxi Rodriguez gone and Bellamy possibly on his way out, Dempsey could step in and continue right where he left off: playing the full 90 week in and week out—and scoring goals.
Although Dempsey has stated his desire to play Champions League Football and Liverpool failed to qualify for the 2012-13 campaign, recent aggression in the transfer market hint that the Reds could be back battling for a top-four spot in the next couple of years.
Fabio Borini became the first signing for Brendan Rodgers a couple days ago and now Daniel Sturridge is heavily linked with the club. Add that to the fact that Carroll finished the season on a strong note and Suarez will be looking for redemption and you have a team that will could legitimately make Dempsey’s UCL dreams come true.
Finally, Liverpool already has one of the biggest fanbases in the United States, but the signing of the USMNT’s star player right before the club goes on their American tour would be absolutely fantastic for the expansion of their brand.
Liverpool Dempsey jerseys would sell like hot-cakes. This type of signing, arguably the biggest in US soccer history, would result in hours of coverage that would be incredibly beneficial for the club and its popularity.
So who doesn’t win if this deal goes down?
Dempsey gets what he wants in significant playing time and a potential chance for UCL football down the road. Liverpool get what they want in a proven goal-scorer who can immediately contribute and massive publicity in the United States.
Fulham get their deserved cash and finally get this transfer saga over with. It’s a win-win-win situation. It’s only a matter of time before we see Dempsey call Anfield his home.

Dempsey looks like a sound acquisition. Definitely 1 of the players I would love to see at Anfield next season. Very consistent, and I muz say he was the reason how Fulham had managed to finish in mid table for the last n previous seasons. Think his price tag of 10m aint too high, considering Scums paid 13m for Kagawa, unproven at EPL level.

Brendan is a gentleman. He is the kind of person who will keep his word.
I doubt he would want to put his integrity at stake by taking in Joe Allen.
Maybe for the 2013/2014 season but definitely not this coming season.

I know Clint Dempsey is a good player to have at Liverpool, but has anyone mentioned his age?
He is 29 years old, I'm not sure if we can get much out of him if we do sign him! Very similar to Van Persie's case..
Shelvey is 20, Henderson is 22, Spearing 23, Lucas is 25, Charlie Adam is 26, Aquilani is 28 and Gerrard is 32.
Currently, we have 7 central midfielders competing for 3 spots (if Brendan Rodgers employ his favoured 4-3-3 formation), why should we sign another central player? (albeit central attacking player)
We should be buying players of Fabio Borini's age I reckon..
If I were Brendan Rodgers, I will definitely send Shelvey out on loan and sell off/loan out Spearing. The remaining 4 will be playing for the first team with 1 as back up to the other 3, potentially Aquilani.

I disagree. In the tiki-taka system the midfielders are key to making the system and it is not restricted to the 3 midfielders. The defenders and the attackers are interchangeable with the centre 3 as the idea is to keep constant movement. Ever wondered why Spain played with 6 midfielders and no striker? :D
You dun need an out & out striker..... you just need a clinical finisher to put away the chances and that finisher could be any of the 6 midfielders. :p
Some of you are talking about the tiki-taka system as if that will be BR's bread and butter but his footballing philosophy is based really on the players he has. I doubt that as a new manager he has the clout to sell Carroll for a fraction of the 35m, so he will have to keep him and play him.

so you're saying, we're gonna play with 6 midfielders just like Spain did?
Why are you digressing?
When I said 4-3-3, I meant 4 defenders, 3 midfielders and 3 forwards. Not, 3 midfielders in the front 3 positions. (i.e 6 midfielders)
Did you see Brendan Rodgers play with 3 midfielders in his front 3?
This is the formation that Brendan Rodgers is likely to employ given the fact that he favoured 4-3-3 when he was at Swansea.
And, do you think the current Liverpool squad can be compared to Spain's national team?
Lastly, I don't see why Brendan Rodgers will play with all 6 midfielders when he just bought Fabio Borini and have at least Luis Suarez at his disposal.
Get it right, Liverpool does not equate to Spain.
Just because Spain played with 6 midfielders in their infamous 4-6-0 formation, it doesn't mean that Liverpool must follow suit.
Sure, Spain did well with that tactic but does it mean it will work for Liverpool?

Yes I do play football regularly, thanks for asking.
So the fans can just expect the team to be a one dimensional team with no Plan B? So every player must fit that system when it fails too?
Is Rodgers that lousy that he can only force a team to have one style?
Sheesh I hope not.
On the topic of mobility too, Swansea played with a target man in Danny Graham and he bagged at least 15 goals or more. So why can't it work for Liverpool?
Newcastle offered to take Andy on loan but Liverpool countered with £17m.
Show me a credible source.
Btw on another note, interesting what Suarez says about the racism issue. Not the most politically correct thing to do, I must say, but I support the lad all the way:
"The media in England showed the moment when I passed in front of him, but they didn't see that he had his hand low before. Only the media in Uruguay but also in Spain showed that I wanted to shake his hand."
Glen said much the same IIRC.

I still and will always believe that Suarez is not guilty of racism despite of the punishment that he has served.. :)
The judge Howard Riddle said that there was no doubt John Terry said "fucking black cunt" at Anton Ferdinand but concluded it is possible that this was not intended as an insult but as a challenge to what he believed had been said to him.
What was being done in Suarez's case then?

With 2 years left on contract, I am expecting at least 8-12 million. Sadly defenders don't ask for much unless they play for more successful clubs.
Does Barcelona really need him too? I hope Danny boy commits just like Skrtel. We need them so badly next season.

I agree with you, and it remains to be seen whether if Andy Carroll will still be a Liverpool player come the end of the summer transfer window.
Whatever it is, I just hope the current Liverpool squad is sufficient to do well in the upcoming season. If not, the squad needs to be beefed up.

The former Swansea City manager made his name in Wales by getting his side to play a committed short-passing game and it now appears as though he does not see Carroll as compatible with his style.
Leaving Liverpool hasn’t been the worst decision for a number of players over the past couple of seasons and the 23-year-old may be best served starting again at another club.
One example of this would be the transfers of Raul Meireles on the final day of the summer transfer window last season and Fernando Torres in January of that year, both to Chelsea.
Torres has not been able to hit anything like the heights he is capable of, and has done at Liverpool, but his season ended with him receiving a Champions League medal after already having collected one for their FA Cup final victory over the Reds.
Meireles has fared a little better, making himself more of a regular starter in both Andre Villas-Boas and Roberto di Matteo’s sides.
Roman Abramovich has been busy adding further recruits to his Stamford Bridge squad this summer and it is hard to imagine them finishing as low as sixth in the Premier League this time around.
Javier Mascherano departed to Barcelona in the summer of 2010 and has since gone on to be part of a side that was regularly labelled the best ever.
The Argentinean has won La Liga, the Copa del Rey, Supercopa de España, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Club and Champions League – not a bad return for a little under two years.
Mascherano’s midfield partner at Anfield, Xabi Alonso, left Merseyside a year earlier to join Barcelona’s main rivals in Spain, Real Madrid.
Alonso’s first season at Liverpool coincided with their incredible Champions League final comeback against AC Milan, but the following years failed to bring anything like that level of success.
The 30-year-old was always praised by commentators for his acute passing ability, but Liverpool under Rafael Benitez failed to turn obvious talent into trophies.
Alonso’s move to Real was said to have been preceded by a breakdown in the relationship between him and Benitez.
After a modest beginning to his career at Santiago Bernabeu, the arrival of Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo saw the team get closer and closer to such a brilliant Barcelona side.
Real finally overcame their rivals in last year’s Copa del Rey final to win his first trophy at the club, but last season saw them seal their biggest achievement when they wrestled the Spanish title away from Pep Guardiola’s side.
Alvaro Arbeloa followed to Alonso to Real for what was thought to be a modest fee and has since made himself first choice at right back there, as well as in the all-conquering Spanish national side.
These examples indicate a serious decline has taken place at the club in the past few seasons, which could have a serious effect on the club being able to sign the calibre of players to return them to past glories.
Andy Carroll is unwanted at Anfield, but a mooted move to Newcastle United could not be convincingly argued as a step down after they finished three places and 13 points above Liverpool.
Mike Ashley has survived relegation and serious fan discontent to turn the Toon into a well-run club that plays quality football, so a return there for Carroll isn’t necessarily accepting a role at a lesser club.
Arsenal have suffered similarly in recent times; neither club can convincingly tell their most talented players that staying put gives them the best chance of finding success.
Both have become a stepping stone and those who leave now tend to win trophes
The former Swansea City manager made his name in Wales by getting his side to play a committed short-passing game and it now appears as though he does not see Carroll as compatible with his style.
Damn bro this is the most depressing thing I have read!! :p
But how true.
It's clear from BR's comments that he is not clear how Carroll fits into his team. If someone will pay 30m for him now, Carroll will be gone in a flash. But unless PSG has a revelation, it ain't gonna happen.

Lastest rumours is that Aston Villa has made a 20m bid for Andy Carroll. They will pay 13m and offset the rest against the amount Liverpool still owes them for Stewart Downing. The potential stumbling block to this deal is Andy's wages. AV wants him to take a paycut. :)

I won't have such high hopes for him in his first season. What I am looking forward realistically is that we should not be losing 8 games in a row. we should try to cut that down by 50 percent. If we can improve our league position by 2 steps upwards . I would be delighted.
Frankly speaking I am worried that BR have not managed to close deal for dempsey or any other new players. I am worried that if next season we will be stuck with the same midfield players and overpriced english players than I don't see any hope at all .
I really hope that BR would be give the youngsters some playing time and slowly ease them into the first team.
I totally agree with some of the views of the bros here that Carragher is way past his prime . He should just slowly fade away from active football. Concentrated on his next phase of his carrer.
As for AC , now wanting to badmouth our club and this player , but we really paid too high price for him . His rate of return is way below our expectation. I know some bros do support him but frankly speaking how many goals has he score for us. He has been given many chances to prove himself match after match but only the last 2 matches he start to show something. If we were to get rid of him we have to lower the price to $20 million. No other clubs would be willing to pay $35 million for AC . Perhaps maybe only Chelsea and Man City.
Hope to see some new signings soon. :(

Out of the 34 players who were taken for the tour, 8 first team squad members did not participate:
Gerrard, Carroll, Johnson, Agger, Henderson, Downing, Kelly and Borini were the missing ones. Reina was not even included amongst the 34 players.
Nice to see all the young players given a run out. I think Suso, Pacheco and Sterling were the stand out ones and they are definitely the future of the Liverpool team.
Lucas played one half and looked very comfortable. He seems to be easing his way back into the team after his injury. This is good news for the club.

I agree with you that we shouldn't be selling but I think players like Adam and Spearing are surplus to requirement.
As of now, I would assume that Lucas-Allen(if/when he signs) and Gerrard are first choice in midfield.
After them comes Henderson, Aquilani and Shelvey who I believe are more than enough in depth and this is keeping in mind that Aquilani and Gerrard are injury prone. That's where Dempsey might come in and play behind the forward.
Henderson I feel is gonna excel in Rodger's team, he is really good at keeping possession and keeping the pass simple. He is intelligent too. Henderson would be ideal to bring on when we are defending a lead, instead of Adam who will waste possession with awkward passes.
It would be good to sell Adam now as we can maybe get 5-6 million for, rather than when he is a squad player and we might not get as much.

From memory the only set piece assist was on day 1 against Sunderland for the Suarez goal and vision, his pass to set up Johnson's goal.
Other than that, Adam has been the worst regular starter since Julian Dicks to me.
I think Henderson is miles ahead of him, although we must be fair and also say they are not similar players.
As for Cole and Downing, I think they would be more comfortable as forward players in a 4-3-3 like Borini as well.

Other than that, Adam has been the worst regular starter since Julian Dicks to me.
I think Henderson is miles ahead of him, although we must be fair and also say they are not similar players.
As for Cole and Downing, I think they would be more comfortable as forward players in a 4-3-3 like Borini as well.
well, at least u remember those games from adam last season, dont even remember henderson having even a good game last season in view he play more games than adam.................anyway, like bro rahl say, we each have diff views but i saw during tha game vs toronto that adam passing & vision is starting to come back, hope he gel in time for the new season......same for downing, carroll & henderson especially they alrdy got one season experience under their belt, time for them to deliver...............YNWA

Not advisable to sell off players without lining up replacements. If Adam or Downing goes without any replacement, our squad might be too thin to last a full season.
Not if you consider sterling and jonjo ready to set up and if cole and aa not moving.

Henderson's highlights of last season for me was his performance against Chelski at Anfield and that sublime assist for Suarez against Stoke.
Still confident he will come good. When he is good, he has a MOM performance, when he is bad, he is really bad! :D
as rahl said, Downing lacks intelligence. Notice that most English wingers have that same problem. Their only attribute is pace.

I'm fine with Liverpool buying another central midfielder, but Brendan Rodgers will have to sell some fringe players soon! How many central midfielders will he actually be using?

I hope the transfer activity speed up. It is depressing to read about the other teams acquisitions while we only have Borini in.

Didnt know Joe Allen is a Swansea player. Thought someone mentioned BR is not allowed to sign players from Swansea for a year? Well, if he can I'm sure he might raid a defender or 2 from Swansea. And Yes, their goalkeeper VORM will be a prized catch. Think he will sit in nicely as the no. 2 to Reina. :D
Ok had my doubts abt signing Swansea players cleared after reading this interesting article:
"Rodgers has agreed not to make an approach for any of his ex-players unless a rival club makes a bid for their services, but it has been suggested on Wednesday a clause in Allen's contract could pave the way for an exit.
It is claimed that Allen's terms, which he extended last summer, dictate that an offer of £15 million from one of the 'top' clubs would trigger a clause that would allow personal terms to be discussed."

Clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal and Man U are buying the appropriate players to strengthen the areas in which they lack quality in. Man City's squad is already good enough so I'm not surprised by the lack of transfer activity from their camp so far.
Chelsea have brought in Hazard, Marin and Oscar to beef up their midfield, Arsenal have brought in Podolski and Giroud to beef up their attack and Man U brought in Kagawa and Powell to beef up their midfield.
Liverpool clearly needs to increase the number of options on the wide areas but we are constantly linked with central midfielders. The squad is already thin enough and will it be sufficient for next season when we will be competing in 4 competitions?
The problem with our squad is that we don't have a balance in the team.
We are constantly overloaded in one area but understaffed in another.
Will we continue to see Jordan Henderson play right wing again come next season?

Half time Liverpool 0-0 Roma,
just some thoughts after watching the first half.
Jonjo Shelvey playing very well and going forward with intent from midfield.
Joe Cole and Sterling also playing well, using their pace and trickery to good effect. Probably needs a better centre forward to finish their crosses off. Eccleston is still young and have not seen much of him in the match so far.
Spearing and Aquilani have been sloppy in their passing, giving the ball away a few times.
Carragher has shown why age is catching up on him as he is not the reliable defender he once was. Still quite mistake prone for me given he is 34 years old already, twice as old as Raheem Sterling.
interesting comments by the owners, about the suarez controversy last season and why kenny was sacked:

I rather lose friendlies than to lose the real games. Besides, friendlies allow us to sift out who fits the system. Still got time to move people on and to get replacements.

Time is something that Liverpool does not have... Their Europa game is next week.

Although we've yet to win in the friendlies, I thought we played well. Our passing has been good, just that we need to take our chances. It's quite obvious how Brendan Rodgers wants the team to play.
Don't forget, most of the first team players did not even feature at all. (some not even included in the 34 players for the tour)
Gerrard, Henderson, Downing, Johnson, Reina, Kelly, Carroll, Borini, Bellamy and Suarez all yet to feature in the pre-season program.
I feel that players like Susuo, Pacheco, Sterling and Joe Cole have been playing well.

Exactly.
Doesn't matter if the fringe players go, but there must be suitable replacements for those that goes!
